I think it’s payback for the crypt keeper Osbourne selling his soul for the success of the 80s and 90s in return for the pain and misery they are receiving in the 21st century.

Nebraska Football's quarter century downturn is a great enough story all on its own. No need to bring mythology into it. 
They deserve every bit of misery. Speaking for all Western Iowa and Omaha Hawkeye fans ...they can't lose enough
Their media and fans are the absolute worst. Their best season is the off-season - talk about how great their recruiting classes are. They still talk down to us by referencing the 90s. They do fake **** (like the sellout streak) to try and stay relevant. Even pull the "best 3 win or 5 win team in the country". They only beat themselves, etc.
Even if they win just 2 games in a row they act like they are back to 90s glory. If you give them an inch....they take a mile. Completely delusional
Every year it's something different....Scott Frost will win them a NC, Dana H will finally turn the offense around, Martinez and baby Mahomes will win the heisman. Every year they have a new story
So when they lose ...it's just hilarious

No. But if it means they’ll keep floundering around trying to recreate a history none of their players were even alive for rather than reinventing themselves, then sure.
I like beating them and seeing them lose like most here but let's be honest... if Iowa went on a few seasons run and like they did from 93 -97, we would all take that... that is holy grail dominance!

I still hated Nebraska more. I heard more chirping from Minnesota but that's easy to ignore.
It’s been almost 30 years since Nebraska was relevant in football. I’ve said it before, but it reminds me of when I was a kid in the 80s and 90s. My dad would talk about how good Minnesota football was back in the 50s and 60s when he was growing up. Not one f@&$ was given by me. I’d imagine people under 30 feel the same today when dad or grandpa tell stories of Nebraska greatness from yesteryear and roll out the old VCR machine.
Nebraska was a pioneer in performance enhancing drugs during Osborne's tenure.
