I hope all of your wealth gets seized
The 88th Anniversary of Kristallnacht comes up on Monday. As funny as some might regard it, there is no way we will ever have a Kristallnacht for Trump Cultists. Most of them are red staters who are too poor to have anything worth seizing. And a few of them live in blue states but are nevertheless poor, like Hermy. We should not be dispossessing them of what little they have. Particularly without due process of law.

LMAO... Does this remind anyone of back in 2008? Remember when everyone was saying Obama is coming to take all your guns? This is exactly like that. So all you Republicans that rushed out and bought guns and ammo back then... The time has come around again! Get out of the market... Sell those Trump basketball shoes. Buy Gold... Bury it deep in the back yard... The end times are almost here,,, THEY are coming for your wealth!

Well, I wasn't urging my fellow Board members to short Tesla stock while it was surging in price. But you do you.
That's something you totally made up several years ago and haven't let go. I challenged a poster who insisted that Tesla didn't have to make a profit because Musk wasn't in it for the money and somehow you twisted that into me recommending that people short Tesla stock.

You claim to be an educated estate planning lawyer. You should do better.

All jokes aside, I’ll talk to my Goldman advisor this month and begin planning for an eventual increase in not just ordinary income tax rates, but also capital gains in 2029+. We already work to reduce my wife’s payroll taxes by shifting income to distributions, but a focus on that will be important as we face a potential SS cap hike. Already in the process of divesting our rental portfolio and taking the gains there. That will be complete in 2027. I have some other major financial events happening in the next 2-3 years, so I’ll need to carefully plan for this leftist push to confiscate more money from hard-working families.

Boo hoo nobody cares. Accept it that poor children will be able to eat at school and poor people will be able to go the doctor when sick

I know it drives you mad to think about Americans having their basic needs met

I’m happy for Americans to have their needs met, but they should be doing it themselves unless there is some material mental or physical disability preventing them from doing so. We should have an absolute laser focus on enabling people to provide for themselves. Government dependence should be something that EVERYONE strives to avoid, both for themselves and for others. Teach a man to fish and all that.

Some school districts are spending up to $50,000 per student and we have more HS students graduating with the lowest proficiency in math or reading than we have in decades. This isn’t a money problem, its the teaches union and leftists that have caused this. Again, liberals destroy an institution and create a massive problem then need to tax working people to fix it.

Yes, but to expect people to pull themselves out of poverty while starving and deprived of healthcare is cruel. Nobody wants never ending government dependence. But when companies like wal-mart pay wages that have their employees qualifying for government assistance then the workers would be foolish not to take the assistance

Sure it wasn’t no child left behind? Teachers not being allowed to fail kids and hold them back? Don’t try to blame the cost of education on teachers unions. That is simply the wrong place to blame. That’s like blaming doctors for healthcare costs

NCLB (2002) and its successor, the Every Student Succeeds Act, contain no language prohibiting grade retention or failing students. Promotion and retention decisions have always been primarily state and local matters.

Social promotion—the practice of advancing students with their age peers even if they have not mastered the material—long predates NCLB. It grew in the early-to-mid 20th century as schools shifted from strict merit-based promotion toward concerns about the social and emotional effects of retention, compulsory attendance expanded, and high school became more universal.

But to your question on cost - what do you think drove the cost up. It was obviously the collective bargaining of the unions for personnel compensation (salaries, benefits, PENSIONS). As with any government agency, they seem to get more funding the poorer they perform. This isn’t novel, this is everything government regulates. There are more students in private and homeschool curriculum than in recent history yet the cost of public education and administration salaries continue to rise. The teachers union president in Chicago is making $443,000 per year. 90% of HS graduates in Chicago are illiterate. These are facts.

We have healthcare and food for poor people today. Medicaid and SNAP. Have you seen the size of some SNAP recipients? If anything, they need to eat less.

If we’re actually concerned about the nutrition poor people receive, we would reform SNAP to only cover nutrient-dense food. This would help with downstream healthcare costs too. It’s a win-win and it baffles me why both sides aren’t pushing for it.

It was never about that. It’s about locking up lifetime voters by promising free everything…and it worked to perfection, they just needed to get the right demo. The statistics are staggering.

The #1 item purchased with SNAP are soft drinks. Number 1!!! “Sweetened beverages” make up 9.3% of all SNAP purchases.

That is WILD to me. My kids get zero traditional sodas. Maybe a poppi or flavored liquid death water from time to time. But the vast majority of what they drink is water.

Sodas are horrible for you. Fruit juices are loaded with sugar and are bad for you. Sports drinks are a luxury and water is fine, not to mention most are loaded with sugar.

The only drink that should be available on SNAP is milk imo. Water is effectively free from the tap. What else is needed for a basic nutrition program?

Put ole scotch in charge and I would reduce SNAP spend AND improve health overnight. The fix is soooooooooo obvious. Why aren’t our politicians doing this?

Because it hasn’t been about that for decades. This is a lifestyle. 31% of the population in America is on some form of taxpayer funded entitlement. Those people aren’t gonna vote against their livelihoods.

Who’s gonna pay for all your programs? Pew Research says 60% of Democrat voters have benefited from taxpayer funded social programs - meaning they don’t work or pay taxes - so who’s paying? The illegals you’re bringing in?

I mean it’s great in principle but it’s a legitimate slippery slope of government control. Very popular public counter argument of “X person/party proposing this bill wants to tell you what you can and can’t eat”. If just being told to suck it up and buy chicken because beef is expensive can make Mississippi vote in a black Democrat for senator then I can only imagine the political fallout of whoever it is that would publicly push for that change.

Good in principle, don’t think it could ever be put into practice

Correct. Illegals pay more taxes individually than most of the billionaire class. You could argue that the billionaires in this country are bigger government leeches than illegal immigrants, and you would be correct

Do the illegals pay more than people making 200k and under? That’s who your policies are going to hurt. It’s so sad you can’t understand this. It’s truly sad.

Tell me how you’d fix this then.

• The top 1% alone pays more in federal income taxes than the bottom 90% combined.

• The top 10% pays roughly 70% of all federal income taxes.

• The top half of taxpayers pays nearly 97% of the total, while the bottom half pays only about 3%.

Nobody would be forcing you to eat one thing or another. But this is a NUTRITION program. It’s literally in the name. It should only pay for nutritious food. You can buy all the soda you want with your own money. This should be a bi-partisan, 90-10 type issue.

And it could absolutely be put into practice. With technology now, it would be easy to limit what is SNAP eligible. We already do it with alcohol, etc. I would also cap spend % on ultra-processed foods.

There is NO downside to this. Nutrition assistance is maintained, people will form better food/drink habits, people will be healthier and more productive, healthcare costs will go down.

This is the kind of common sense stuff we should be putting in place immediately.

Again, that is not the intent. It’s not intended to provide nutrition. It’s intended to incentivize particular behaviors and dependency.
