I got this in my feed because I follow MHSAA stuff, but this came from Michigan.

Grand Rapids Catholic is one of the winningest programs in high school football. They got a transfer from Comstock Park, another school in Grand Rapidsm this season. Well, like our MAIS/MHSAA, they have a rule that says that transfers cannot be "athletically motivated"

So the family "moves" to an apartment closer to the new school and rents out their house. Comstock Park smells something and appeals that the move never really happened. Its investigated and determined that it was a vaid move.

Fast forward to October - new school is in the playoffs and old school missed the playoffs by one game. An anonymous video arrives at the MHSAA office. The house is for sale, and someone took a video while on a tour that proves that the kid still lives in original house. New school has to forfeit season and old school takes their spot in the playoffs.

No one knows who the woman is that took the video - she just was looking at houses.

Its odd that the player had to move, since the new school is private and doesnt have boundaries.
I guess the move was needed to get out of the old school's boundaries and therefore show he couldnt play for the old school still?

Since my state made it absurdly easy to enroll in any district regardless of residence a few years ago, the way to work around varsity athletes having to sit out at the new school is to claim a medical mental health waiver.
The new school claims the student transferred due to mental health concerns, the state's 2 HS Athletics bodies reviews the claim, and the student is eligible right away.

Not so fast. Apparently the new school has a friendly judge to issue a. Injunction. No word on whether or not he cried as he was issuing it.
