GS is in 7th year of 2.0 and he's addressing media (with admins present) with comments about how "we're getting better" when team has only beat a cupcake (Howard) and a tomato (Maryland). A few more games were winnable but coaches just cant pull any rabbits out of their hats because offense is intentionally decaffeinated as a goal.
The only question that Kelly needs to answer is will the grift continue in 2017?

Yes, at one point I was both SunsetLament and SunsetRegret.

To the best of my recollection ...

My original username was RutgersHouston (there was also a "Rutgers-Houston"; that is not me). That one was suspended (under the previous regime), sometime around 2007 because I said I didn't think Greg was a good game day coach. The previous board owner/manager said something to the effect of (paraphrase) "Yes, I believe in free speech, but you're aggravating the board regulars by repeatedly criticizing Schiano, so I'm giving you a timeout." I'll let everyone figure out who one of the belligerent board regulars who was virulently defending Schiano was. I think this was the image that finally did it.

View attachment 1518028

Then I signed up as RutgersHouston2. That one was suspended the week we announced we were first wearing all-black uniforms. I pointed out on the board that Schiano had previously said we'd never have black uniforms as long as he was coach, and that he was a freaking liar ... and I was promptly suspended. That may or may not have been around the time I had an avatar of Schiano wearing pink pajamas (the salmon jammies) because I hated the pink "all-red" uniforms we were wearing, too.

After that, there was definitely a RutgersHouston3 at some point. I believe I just lost the password to that when I switched computers.

Then there was SunsetLament. That username was the one that I believe was suspended for pointing out that Rutgers had likely committed a federal crime in the hiring process that resulted in Julie Hermann because they hired her due to her gender and sexual orientation. That account was "blacklisted" for positing this ...

Around the same time, I had SunsetRegret as a username that I used on my phone. When I finally started posting again (after the message board switched hands and that kiss-*** a-hole left for "better" pastures), I was using that username. And then my phone broke and I lost the password for that account.

And that's how I wound up with the account I currently use. Or ... none of this is true and I have just been on a 20 year crusade to hide my anonymous identity from AreYouNuts. It's either one or the other. I'm sure everyone will find this fascinating.
crazy that you've had to change usernames because of new phone, new computer, or forgotten passwords but still have those images saved somewhere

We pumped up the operational expenses because it was taking more effort to recruit our classes, and it was the only lever that could be pulled. Especially because we are lacking in capital expenses and NIL.
So all this extra money spent on recruiting produced a roster that is a smaller shoe size away from possibly being 1-6, although YOU said that there was enough talent to run the table the rest of the season. Now you're beating the NIL horse again?

The reason for the increased spending on support staffs is because it’s more difficult for us to recruit. Because the other two metrics are not competitive.
If NIL is not competitive, and that is why, according to YOU, RU isn't winning, why would increasing the number of support staff solve that problem? YOU said that the better players are "chasing the bigger bag." How is spending money on support staff going to increase the size of the bag to attract better players? And a few weeks ago, this roster was, according to you, good enough to beat Indiana despite their huge financial advantages.

His story doesn’t make any sense lol

He remembers all of those usernames but isn’t smart enough to know he can retrieve passwords

It also helps to have had an Imgur account. Other Rutgers images/photoshops I have stored include ...

I'd love to say I care enough to learn how to recover lost username/passwords from 15 years ago (attached to email addresses I no longer have access to), but I don't. *shrugs shoulders* It's a dopey message board for a historically bad athletics department, not a CIA database. As for recovering banned and suspended usernames from a different message forum platform? Again, *shrugs shoulders*

So you can remember the password to your Imgur account but not here. Makes total sense. 😂
At the time I could. This may shock you, but in 2008 passwords didn't require numbers, special characters, upper and lower case numbers ... they'd let you just use words (often just my dogs' names; sometimes I'd add my birthday because I'm super secret like that). Then, they started making you use all this other ****. And if you had to recover your email/google/microsoft password once? You couldn't use the same one again.

Or ... as I pointed out earlier, this is all untrue and an elaborate 20 year effort to hide my already-anonymous identity from AreYouNuts by using the incredibly sneaky method of making new usernames that are identical with the numerals "1, 2, 3, etc" affixed to the end and identical avatars. It's definitely one or the other; you figure it out.

It is likely the program won’t win another game this season, maybe a last hurrah vs MSU. I just don’t see how the AD can retain GS after a 2-10 season. Zinn stated publically that improvement from last year’s 5-7 team was necessary. No change after this debacle is essentially admitting that RU is unable to compete in football in the B1G. That certainly would give credence to those who state that RU should not be in the conference.

2-10 or 3-9 are the most likely final records, which is a huge step backward. We are nearly where we started when Greg took over. Consider the past four seasons.
SeasonReg Season W-LB1G Season W-LB1G Opponent W %B1G Opp > 500B1G Opp < 500

20255-72-7.51963
20262-61-4.51932
2026 Proj*3-92-7.42645

This is currently the 2nd weakest B1G schedule since Schiano's return and the 3rd where our B1G opponents were below .500 (2020 was the 1st at .459).

While buyouts are a consideration and not a small amount of money- the University and the Football program is not going to close up shop if that happens this up coming Monday. The bigger danger to our program is doing noting- the financial reality Keli faces is that we lose more money each year by keeping him than the single hit by getting rid of him.
Again, no. very unlikely to recoup costs in a matter of a year or two. You saw the empty Maryland stadium last week. You honestly think ticket sales will increase once the new coach is named ? Maybe some will keep they already have, but like here many will cut back and very few will buy for the first time or add.

I'm actually shocked that NJ/NY area Michigan fans didn't buy-out the stadium last week. There might be something to the just general college football malaise that was being discussed in the other thread. If that turns out to be a major factor then we wouldn't sell-out the stadium if we replaced Schiano with Nick Saban.

It's not just ticket sales. There are big sponsorship deals that hang in the balance that need to be considered.

Disagree. I already know for a fact my season ticket group number - which has dwindled since Greg came back - is going up next year with a new head coach.. If he’s still here, we probably lose a couple more seats. He is the reason for the apathy at this time.

I love my buddy Al - and have defending his quirks for years- but at this point, there is no way to continue doing so. Al, my friend, you mult threads and mult posts have come completely unhinged and just not making sense anymore.

I agree with nuts here- Keli was very clear and I have no issue with the harshness of the reply to Al.
For years I defended Al's positive posting , even those that went a bit overboard .
I felt Al was a great contrast to the negativity that seemed to rule the board and his messages gave a little relief from them by looking on the positive side, even if some of what Al claimed was a but much to believe .
Now I mainly ignore threads he starts and very seldom will say a nice word about the posts of his I see.
I don't begrudge his right to post what he wants, just won't listen to the BS he is putting out now because what he's posting now is more than overly positive, it has become ridiculous and riot worth reading or responding to

Al's zenith was asking how he could get a girlfriend here. He's become a broken record Schiano apologist who long ago stopped making sense. It only took 2 games to go from winning the NC to we will never compete because we don't have a field house. He's flailing here, the pay side, the main board, everywhere he posts under all 5 usernames. If he was a pinball machine it would be screaming "Tilt!".

It has literally become Ash level. Except that I like Greg better. I know for a fact that Greg loves Rutgers and NJ.

But I have seen some of the most loyal fans lose major interest over the past couple of years- and most of us know who they are as you rarely even see them posting anymore. This is why it has gotten to the point that keeping him becomes more expensive than buying him out. and I can't believe we even have to still explain that to some simpletons.

He should love Rutgers. No other school would have paid him tens of millions to lose much less have hired him in the first place. He owes everything to the school.

Michigan offered him 5 years at $2.2 Mil in 2007 about $500 k over what RU was paying him.
At the time I was glad to see him turn it down, now wonder if Mulcahy would have hired a quality replacement and Rutgers Football would have been better off with him leaving

Increasing the support staff ensures we could fill the class with decent players who might pan out. Haven’t you noticed that we’re not getting our first or second choices most of the time? It takes a lot of hard work to fill a Rutgers class, especially when the head coaches future is in question.

When you don’t have big bags to hand out, you look for players who have the attributes to succeed who aren’t looking for big bags, which is an especially difficult proposition. It takes a lot of hard work to find these players.
Since we’re not landing many jersey recruits, for HS recruiting, there’s a huge amount of work that goes into identifying, vetting, and offering prospects from elsewhere. This is what Rutgers is forced to do when it can’t successfully compete with peer programs for prospects nearby. In addition to Florida, we’ve been going to South Carolina, Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. You can see this on the commitment page.

Next, Who do you think is currently vetting possible portal candidates? You’ve got to do your checks beforehand if you’re going to invest in a player. Portal is coming up quick in January so you’ve got to do your homework. Lots of additional work to identify, vet, prioritize, and schedule visits.

And what drives sponsorship deals ? Eyeballs. And there will be fewer such eyeballs with or without a new coach.

Shelby’s been waiting a very long time for RU to rid itself of The Grifter but the idea that keeping him is more costly than firing him is absolutely false. Were it true it would have happened by now and it would have been received positively by the press and the public, something RU would be quick to point out given the hundreds of millions of deficit over recent past. But instead he and his bloated staff are still here because it’s the cheaper choice. Tate and Zinn aren’t dumb. Lack of action proves financial motives to keep him.

Al, most understand that Rutgers has tried to give Schiano extra staff resources to try to offset some of the lack of player budget. But you’ve lost the plot. You said we needed more NIL over and over and over. WE told you it probably wouldn’t help much became the program has too many flaws. You obsessively disagreed. Then he got more NIL and the team got even worse.

What are we even talking about anymore?

Notice how basketball got a GM and more NIL and how now we have a serviceable roster.
