It’s timeeeeeeee. I think every year when I do this first gameday thread I say “this seems to come quicker and quicker each year” and that’s once again true.

you’re number 2 Duke blue devils kick the season off against Army in what should be called the Coach K classic. Army is led by 6’1 senior Ryan Curry (no relation) who last year averaged 13ppg,4rpg, 4.5 assist. The cadets went 11-21 last year including a November loss at home to Duke- 59-114. Kevin Kuwik is entering his fourth season as the army coach with previous stops at Butler amd Ohio State with Thad Matta, for a season Brad Stevens- a few years at both Dayton, Davidson and Ohio. He’s been around the block!

I expect a good hard fought butt whooping from
Start to finish to kick off the season and our quest for 6!

They really struggled in the first half. Coach Scheyer needs to send a message that they can’t live off of the exhibition games.

Defense was good but the offense got so stagnant . Don’t know if that’s the game plan but somehow you got to get some one scoring . Duke went almost I think 11 minutes without a field goal . That’s unreal especially against army . Don’t know what is being worked on during this game but Duke looks completely different than the team you saw play Tennessee and Kansas. I don’t think Blackwell has a point yet .

My one pick of this game is game tape . The zone bothered Duke especially Blackwell. I get its army and Duke doesn’t or maybe doesn’t want to throttle them. Learn and play until March .

Hopefully just an off game from 3. Glad to see everyone got decent minutes. Anyone know if anything happened to Drewski? He came in for couple minutes then went out after he scored

Think there wasn’t any real reason for him to play or risk anything with him. He came in and played solid for missing the preseason now get him into game shape .

It’s kind of hard to want to curb stomp kids that serve our country. This is going to be a unique year. We’re used to basically a set rotation, built around a phenom. Not this team. We have four guards that would play at least 30 minutes a game if they were almost anywhere else.

Yeah I get that about army , however Scheyer is going to have to run some offensive sets for this team . Especially for shooters to get open and free up the bigs inside . I bet they are working on zone in practice today because it really affected Blackwell’s ability to get open from the arch. Long season lots of growing for this team .

am I the only one that thinks Meyers reminds me of the kid in Adam Sandlers eight crazy nights ?
