After being a season ticket holder since graduating in the 1980's, this is the first season I don't have season tix. But I got four freebies to the season opener for being a football season ticket holder so I'm going.
A couple of things that will keep me interested:
- How will the playing time be distributed in the early going? Will lots of different guys get time or do the coaches already know what they have and dive right in with their nucleus?
- Who are the leaders of this team? At first thought, JMike and Francis. But I can see Gurdack emerging as an important locker room guy and on-floor motivator. Let's see who steps up and shows a lot of passion both on the floor and from the bench.
- I'm guessing Pike will attend this one. Does he show his usual level of enthusiasm, or is his condition forcing him to yield to Knight to be the high-energy coach?
This needs to be one of those games where you clear the bench with 5 minutes left. If it's competitive until the end, that will be a bad sign.
