Football Pants. How short is too short?

That so ludicrous it defies the English language to describe it adequately. Coaches need to set some standards since it's obvious the officials aren't doing it. I think--and I could be wrong--but I think the "rules" still say pants need to cover the knee and knee pads must be worn. Either way, this stupidity needs to stop.

Unfortunately it is becoming way too common.

I don't think those are the rules, but it's extremely LAME. If you're a punter, you're not really a football player anyway (my apologies to punters everywhere, especially the Hawks good ones!).

I honestly can't imagine not having long pants and pads underneath. Maybe the fields are a lot softer than they used to be (not likely), but your knees can take a beating on grass or turf. You're just asking for trouble and it's just dumb IMO.

Yes, that rule still applies, and there is actually an official in charge of uniform standards. I guess he's on a break when the teams come out on the field.....

I remember Cooper DeJean and how opponents seemed to just slide off him in failure as he ran by them and shed them like so many pests. He always wore full-length pants. They were sleek and effective.

Their is a reason there is some padding or at least pant material over the knee cap and patellar tendon area. Question, is that the punter as I see it is 4th and 9. Kickers are crazy maybe so that is why the refs let them do this. But seriously, it is amazing there are not more plain contusion injuries to knees.

would love to see a player get flagged for it
