IL reporting that SMU has hired Princeton's OC as their HC. Tells me that they are going to hit the IVY portal players hard for 2028. I wonder how much NIL it will take to bring in Nate Kabiri.

I am hear whispers that SMU made Mitchell the highest-paid lacrosse coach in the country. I am sure that they will open the bank for these players

I predict SMU is going to be competitive very soon. Maybe not year one but a lot quicker than Utah or Michigan.

Jim Mitchell is a great hire in my opinion. I was always a big fan of his offense, and I got a lot from him in regards to understanding offensive concepts early on.

Wonder if ACC and ESPN put some pressure on the NCAA to expand the playoffs. The SMU donors aren't going to want to hear their team is not making the playoffs because Robert Morris or Sienna took the spot as an AQ.

They need to move the Final Four off MDW and into June.

They'll try, but as the ACC got 4 teams in last year it's a BS request. They're getting favored treatment already

The AAU expanded today, adding Georgetown and UAB into the fold. Looking at who the AAU expanded with over the years, outside of ND, pretty much every school that was added are either a city school or one just outside like ASU in Tempe. I wonder if SMU in the coming years gets added to the AAU themselves being a good academic private in the DFW market. Maybe they get in the AAU and end up on the B1G's radar sometime in the 2030s as a TX expansion school.

There is more pressure to contract the playoffs than expand them. It’s died down a bit and SMU having a program helps limit that more.

SMU, between the press conference the size you see reserved for football coach hires, flying his family around in a private jet, and the resources they are surely throwing at the program, every top tier school in the country is on notice. They aren’t playing around. Good to be them.

Oh yeah, this is definitely the new shiny toy at SMU. They are going to get a ton on financial support. If you look at their athletics, they actually don't support that many sports. Like 17 sports, now including SMU MLAX, compared to our around 22 sports and close to 30 sports for some of the other B1G teams. They will absolutely get a big chunk of the pie.

SMU announced a bunch of transfers. Ryan Goldstein (2nd team AA attack Cornell) and Tucker Wade (1st team AA M Princeton) top the list. No word on Kabiri. IL has the complete list.
