Hows that worked for pope
Figured it would take a couple years to get it going like it usually does with a change. Left with 0. Injuries derailed the first 2 years but still 20 win seasons. NCAA.

This year is the year. Good roster. CMP HAS to get it going. I’m still and always in the UK canoe.
Not quitting on the team in the freaking preseason like a scared child.

Its not quitting on the team dude, its realizing the team is mid and then watching a mid product

Think I’d rather have a heavy portal roster. Maybe 2 HS guys.
I agree. But I don’t know if Pope is the right person to coach them

Some of us are stuck in the 2010s. I can’t recall any freshman laden teams winning anything of significance in a lonnnnnng while. Give me 1-2 highly ranked high school guys and built out with the portal.

He,s unable to get highly ranked HS. Guys they won't commit . They use Pope to get paid elsewhere.

Instead of doubling down on your nonsense, how about repeating the fact that he dealt with a ton of injuries and started with an empty cupboard? But then that wouldn't give you a reason to create another account.
I hope we get this guy and 3 to 4 more studs.

If the narrative of Pope's lack of coaching success is to point out the injuries and empty cupboard, you have to also include he had $22 million to put a 10 to 15 player roster together. He had complete control and he selected the players he wanted to coach. It is also fair to point out that he gave millions of dollars to a player that could not run at the time because of injuries. If you signed injured players, there is a pretty good chance you are going to have injured players to coach. So, some of Pope's misfortune was created by Pope.

So far he’s lost Uvwo took the highest bidder. I’m fine with that one. Love his game and would’ve loved him but he is a defensive kid.

Lost Henry to a local school. Lost Alston to a local school. Adan Diggs probably goes to a local school. Rosser could be to a local school. Everyone says popes only big recruits are local kids. Well don’t you expect other kids to stay local if money and stuff is even remotely similar?

all that said he has to get more talent and I think that was a main reason for the Aboya hire. He has the African connection and those kids don’t have local schools pulling them.

If pope hears a medical staff say JQ should be ready by X time, should he ignore it? JQ was a top talent and worth whatever risk there was. Also, a bunch of people were using the same rhetoric on pope regarding Jalen lowe, when in fact his injury from the year before was a broken finger. The truth is somewhere in the middle.

Yes, if I were paying millions, I would move to the next guy. You said it yourself, it was a risk. Pope made the decision to take that risk, so it is on him. If I spend my paycheck on the lottery and I do not win, well that is on me.
Lowe was probably just unfortunated. Injuries happen, it is part of the game. Sam Bowie, Derek Anderson, etc... we have had some unfortunate luck with some stud players.

I think the transfer heavy option is fine. Pope has had horrible injury luck. We cannot forget that Jaxson Robinson was a REALLY GOOD player and we didn't have him in the Sweet 16 game. Also had Lamont Butler, who was the team's true leader, playing with one arm. And other minor injuries, but those SUCKED.

That said, Pope is failing miserably with HS recruiting. Take away Moreno and Johnson, both with direct ties to KY, and it's non-existent. Mason Williams fell in his lap b/c of Mo Williams.

Hampton was supposed to change things. A legit top 10 kid, 5-star who others were going to follow. Now, Hampton is down to #27 in the latest Rivals rankings and others have caught up and surpassed him according to scouts. It is what it is.

Pope better get a commitment from someone quickly.

Right now I don’t even care who he gets from recruiting. All I’m interested is Pope showing he can consistently be a contender. Go win the SEC and make a deep run and many of us disgruntled fans will change our opinion of Pope.

Get another 6th place or lower in the SEC and drop out before the second weekend of the tournament and most of us will want you gone.

One thing I don’t want is for Pope to pull a Mike Woodson, get a half-baked class of a couple 4 stars and then have idiots demanding he come back for a 4th season (which you know will happen if we gets Millogo) if he doesn’t achieve success this season.

Why would you even attempt common sense on rupps rafters. Most on here are controlled by emotions, you’ll never reach them.😂😂😂

Stop already
His 1st team was better than last year when he had all year to put together
Jury still out on current group

Duke has no problem getting kids to leave home, nor does ark, only pope
Pope was even going to give Alston dad a job and still couldn't sign him 🤔

Please show me where pope was going to give Alston dad a job with zero spots on staff left. I didn’t say kids won’t go from home. I said the guys he hasn’t gotten so far all went to the home town school essentially. I also said he has to get a lot better. Duke isn’t even on the same level. They have so many different things helping them that no one else has. Arky has Calipari. He’s the king of one and dones. Speaks for itself. I’d rather not rely on freshman to win though that’s for sure.
