Nova looks ragged without flow. Not surprised for Nov 1 with many new faces and after losing a star PG, but you can see the talent. They are going to be very good.

Suigo and Evans upfront impressive.

Surprised there wasn’t a separate thread on the Nova game.

Tough to peg all these teams with new faces, but has anyone seen anything which forecasts Notre Dame as being any good? I was just reading Norlander’s top 100 (he has us at 92), and I didn’t seen Notre Dame on that list unless I just missed them.

They had no business losing that game, jeez. Controlled it all the way. But 20 turnovers (-9 margin) and allowing 17 offensive rebounds will leave you vulnerable and can get you cooked.

I didn’t watch till the last minute or so but this is what everyone seems to be saying.

Still think Nova will be very good. This is just one of those early November things.

If our guards dribble into double coverage and have the ball stripped as much as Nova did today, this board will be in meltdown. Nova has talent but they have to clean it up and play better defensively. Bad loss but early. Maybe the RU exhibition wasn’t an outlier regarding Nova.

Willard is who we all thought he was
Nova will be fine. They folded in the final minutes. Bad loss for the BE but wouldn't overreact to opening day in Rome.

One thing I'll say is I bet Willard complained about every aspect of having to fly out to Rome and play an early start in a foreign time zone and all other details about preparation time, etc. In that aspect, Willard hasn't changed a bit.

He's also not comfortable being a favorite. He feels the pressure and by extension his teams do also. He's much better as the underdog and playing from behind which is going to be interesting in his Nova tenure with the vast resources and expectations.

And that's why the Big East gets no respect at NCAA time. Having one of your top teams lose to a poor P4 OOC opponent hurts the league.
True. Although Nova can make up for that with the rest of its OOC. Beat Wisconsin and pick off either Michigan or Kansas (however doubtful the latter seems) and it helps negate this L.

Definitely need to do that now.
