Probably saved them. A waiver would have put them in 3A where they'd have to face the hypothetical 6A champs, IC.So…was the IHSA’s decision to deny Leo’s waiver the correct call?
Yes.So…was the IHSA’s decision to deny Leo’s waiver the correct call?
I think they were absolutely in an appropriate classification. Talent wise they were close to even with a team that is assuredly top 10 in 4A.So…was the IHSA’s decision to deny Leo’s waiver the correct call?
Why hate on IC?Do the ICC fans see that Leo played in 4A? Congrats to Leo on making the playoffs.
Hate is probably too strong a word. However the chest thumping after thrashing far inferior competition and talk of theoretical 6A titles while actually playing in 3A can be a bit much. Why hate on IC?
Every team is thumping their chest after winning though. Loyola was thumping their chest after beating IC who would be considered “inferior competition.” Having watched IC this year, I don’t think it’s a bad take to assume they’d be able to compete for a title in 5A/6A. The talk in this group is that Providence vs Kankakee is for the state championship. Does that take offend you too?Hate is probably too strong a word. They went 5-4 though so they woulda made the playoffs under the previous rules.Leo has talent. They need to clean up the penalties and stay disciplined. They are young and the future could be bright. They are a team that the new system helps. Playing in the CCL would normally be hard for them to make playoffs.
IC is the epitome of why the multiplier and Success Factor exist due to no fault of their own.Every team is thumping their chest after winning though. They are both multiplied. Per the rules. IC is not getting special treatment and Leo is not getting "unspecial" treatment. This is my point. Why does the IHSA step in and make Leo play in 4a but allows IC to stay in 3A?

I didn't realize that a 5-4 Catholic team losing to an 8-1 team on the road was cause for alarm.Per the rules….the rules state that Leo should have the waiver but the IHSA didn’t honor it.
I just don’t like that Leo has done squat in the playoffs in years and the IHSA doesn’t allow them the waiver. Makes zero sense.
It doesnt say they should have it. It says they can apply for it.Per the rules….the rules state that Leo should have the waiver but the IHSA didn’t honor it.

He likes to forget about that part of the rule.It doesnt say they should have it. It says they can apply for it.
Completely agree with everything you’ve said, and I understand that comments one poster made are what offended (for whatever reason) certain members in the group. It’s just strange for me to see a post that says, “Congrats to Leo for losing a game in the class they belong to based on enrollment and multiplier, and also f*** IC for winning a game in the class they belong to based on enrollment and multiplier.” I’m newer to the group, so I’m assuming the same hate was directed towards the Driscolls, Montinis, Aurora Christians, Nazareths, etc of the past and IC is just the latest exampleThey went 5-4 though so they woulda made the playoffs under the previous rules.

Based on the rules, considering their size, location, prestige, etc... IC can (and has) acquire(d) a roster that would basically have every single one of their starters as all conference type players vs any small school they face. A 2A size enrollment that is playing 3A, with their fans talking about being able to compete in 6A (which I agree with)
There are maybe 2 or 3 public 3A teams that could play against IC and not get running clocked. Maybe.
I'm not gonna tell you when and when not to flex, but I think you know what I'm talking about.
One of the posters giving IC flak was a Loyola guy.Completely agree with everything you’ve said, and I understand that comments one poster made are what offended (for whatever reason) certain members in the group. also f*** IC
He likes to fabricate his own narrativesYes. That’s exactly what I said. Except it’s not. I called out the fans — not the school
or the football team, which is great — for calling last night’s win the ultimate display of football and making fun of the overmatched opposing team for daring to celebrate making a tackle in garbage time. In hindsight I wish I’d posted it in the game thread. But put it here because there’s also been a lot of theoretical talk about ICC winning in classes it isn’t in. I dare say you are overreacting. I’ve pissed you off I get it. I’ll move on. FWIW I really do think the ICC team is quite excellent.![]()

The rules are the rules. IC is playing in 3A where they have been placed. Selfishly I'd love to see them in 4A vs Montini, Morris, Rochester, SHG, etc.. but I also can appreciate and understand that playing up voluntarily is a balancing act.
I just hope that the IC fans that frequent this high school football message board are versed enough to realize that IC pounding on teams like G-K doesn't warrant any excessive celebration.
So if it were approved and they got clocked by IC in 3A would you be crying to allow them into 2A or 1A or whatever class it takes to get them a playoff win?For Leo’s sake it’s not “the rules are the rules” though. It’s the rules state you can apply for the waiver but the IHSA can deny the waiver for reasons that no one knows of.
That’s bull.
