Man! That guy was so tired he just gave up the second Zain put him on his back
He's known to gas big time. The guy is smoking cigarettes in the back before matches . He was a world champ in 2023 and has won 2 other world medals and 5th at the Olympics twice

Wyatt shoots but Siyar counters for 2 on the edge. 2-2

Blaze coming up on mat B against Javan from Iran

Let’s go Marcus!!

Javan goes sweep single but Blaze defends and it gets blown dead

Blaze taking ground. Not sure how Blaze got the first passivity warning. Blaze on the clock first

1-0 Javan with the shot clock point

Blaze goes underhook and drives Javan out. 1-1 at the break. That was a big point because Javan should go on the clock soon

Javan takes a good shot and Blaze rubber knees out. Javan goes on the clock

Beautiful drag to a shot by Blaze but Javan jumps out of it

2-1 Blaze with the shot clock point

Javan in deep but only gets 1. 2-2 Javan with criteria

1:15 left

Blaze with the tightrope to stay in bounds

:30. Javan wasting time with a front head

:18. to go

Blaze in deep but Javan defends. Javan with a whizzer but Marcus steps over and gets the boot in. Time expires. USA challenging. I’m not sure how this gets scored

Refs taking a long time with the review. Challenge lost. Damn. I’m not sure about that

@zzs006 you see India will make the bronze match if Zare beats Wyatt. So he has a favorable Bronze match. India would have Johnson Jamaica
Wyatt definitely brings home a medal. The way he is wrestling I’m not writing him off against Zare. He needs to attack and not get pushed all over the mat with an underhook

Zain vs Heybatov on mat D

Zain with a td. Refs talking it over. Somehow it’s now 3-0 Zain but Heybatov is challenging. Zain had the Td and Heybatov came to his feet and went out of bounds for fleeing and that’s the 3rd point I believe. Challenge lost. 4-0

Zain with lots of motion and fakes. Heybatov goes double and Zain defends

Zain with a great shot. Heybatov goes rubber knee and gets the stalemate

4-0 at the break

Zain in on another beautiful swing single. Heybatov goes rubber knee again but Zain keeps fighting and finishes. 6-0

Hi c from Heybatov and Zain defends. Gets his front head and takes Heybatov out for 1. 7-0

This is this best I have seen Zain look since he came back

Heybatov tries a hi c/fireman’s but Zain sprawls and gives up nothing

:15 to go

Zain wins 7-0!! Really great match by Zain. Good fakes, movement, defense, and a couple incredible swing singles. Into the semis!

Dake on mat C

Shavaev looks much bigger than Dake

Dake on the clock first. Dake hits a nice single but Shavaev powers out. 1-0 Shavaev with the shot clock point

1-0 at the break. Dake getting a bit frustrated with the hands to the face by Shavaev

Dake with a nice double and straight to a gut! 4-1. Another exposure and it’s 6-1 now

His gut is such a weapon. He is turning everyone

1:30 to go

Dake just evading and defending now. Gets warned for passivity. On the clock and Shavaev gets the point. 6-2

Shavaev shoots and Dake defends with a front headlock. Time runs out and Dake wins 6-2!

With that win Ghasempour is out!

Incredible round by the US getting 3 into the semis. I think Blaze will get pulled into repechage as well

I know that’s how it’s usually scored in freestyle but I don’t understand how that isn’t control by Blaze. Clear td to me.
I don't disagree with you. They just never call that with the arm still hooked which we know the bottom guy has nothing regardless it's a position I think is 2 but it's never called that way in freestyle as you know

Very true. Jayden scores there almost every match. Most of the time he clears the whizzer though. I’ve seen him score with the exact position Blaze had though. If that’s not a td it should be changed because that is 100% control
That's the key clearing the whizzer or controlling far ankle

Unfortunately I’m out for the semis so if anyone can do pbp that would be great. I had fun watching with all of you at this ungodly hour. Let’s go USA.

Some huge matches coming up. Wyatt vs Zare, Dake vs Kadiev, and Zain vs Akmataliev
What time?

I know it’s likely just sour grapes and my American bias, but the inconsistency in passivity frustrates me. Dake gets put on the clock and warned (probably deservedly so) up 6-0, but then against Blaze, Javan seemed to backup for the majority of the match and had his back along the edge of the mat and the passivity was scored “equally” between the two, with Blaze getting put on the clock first, even though he was planted in the middle of the mat.

Blaze up on mat D

Blaze goes re shot to a go behind for a td. 2-0

Colesnic trying to slow things down with a Russian tie

Blaze goes snap to single to go behind for another Td. 4-0

Blaze with a beautiful ankle pick. 6-0

Blaze with a beautiful snap to a quick go behind and immediately into a gut. 10-0 tech in the first!

The USA keeps rolling!!

Blaze vs Javan from Iran in the quarterfinals. Javan was world silver last year. Super tough obviously but he looked beatable in his quarter. Huge match for the team race. I think Blaze wins
Excellent work zz. Very much appreciate the updates. Thank you.
