Damn, another great article by Jerry.

And point of reference, when I was in junior high we were located right next to Bloomfield Tech. They were a HS and we a junior high and we destroyed them every year in BB despite being 4 years younger. But that was back in the mid '60s. They eventually came a long ways from there which included Holloway's first coaching stop.

They essentially realized they could recruit at some point, right?

The school back then had very little interest in athletics. We were 13-14-15 year old playing against HS juniors and senior and like I said we destroyed them.

10 years later the opposite would have happened.

Good positive read. This is always the benefit of having an alum as HC because the personal connection and pride motivates them. Sha would be well served to show a bit more of this side of him. It's in there.

I do wonder what's going on with changing out the entire roster for the 3rd straight season. Yes, we know the money problem. I don't expect to keep players that he develops who flash like Richmond, Davis, Clark, or Hines, but we can't even keep a nucleus of supporting cast ever? It's only money?

On the court, he's been solid for 3/4 seasons, probably 1-2 games from making 2 NCAA Tournaments but is 0/4. We've had one of the worst offenses in the entire country for two consecutive seasons in so many key areas. It's pretty nuts. He has got to figure out a way to fix that.

Some of the decisions were made by Holloway. Others obviously about money.

Take for instance our starting guard last year Mike Williams, He agreed to a return amount and them shopped that amount and came back to Holloway wanting more money. Holloway told him no and he left in the portal. He eventually signed for less money at Tulsa. And to be honest I firmly believe we replaced him with better players.

Simpkins, our backup guard who struggled mightily in the Big East season wanted north of $1M to come back. Holloway balked at that number and he too left.

But I guess if the money was right... LOL

Simpkins and Williams were solid overall. Exceptionally streaky But I think we did upgrade on both, especially with Wilcher taking Simpkins' role. Parker has better upside than Williams too, among the other players that will play that 2-guard or 3rd guard set position.
