It's not supporting Penn State when you then constantly attack the new regime
Paterno clearly needed to go long before he did. Franklin left exactly when he should have. Loyalty to a coach is the only reason anyone would disagree.
MC is facing the same nonsense, on a smaller level, that O'Brien did replacing Joe.
Campbell is not facing the same nonsense that O’Brien did.

Even better news if true: insiders on TOS are saying that a BIG MONEY PSU DONOR had everything to do with this kid coming in, and that same donor along with a few others are all in with the portal as well this year.
Don’t follow recruiting closely any more. Any win against OSU is good news and if what you claim about the donors is accurate that’s great news.

It’s not loyalty to a coach, it’s being okay with where the program has been for the past 12 years…you have a really bad habit of thinking for other people.
Remaining loyal to the coach that's gone and isn't coming back remains an issue when it's used against the new staff.

When the argument is that firing a coach will take your program backwards in a big way, and then it happens, of course it’s going to be used against the new staff.

The only thing that matters is winning a national title. Franklin wasn't capable (he proved that) so now it's MC's shot. If/when he fails we'll move on. We went 6-6 last year--if not sure why you and others act like we won a title last year and a 500ish team this year is a step back.

A first year coach’s only job is to get fans excited about the future (see Stein and Chesney)….Campbell is failing at that miserably.

I think winning a title is the perpetual goal…but if there are 100+ teams that can’t win it every year, it’s relevant to both set realistic and achievable expectations. We were super close to that goal of winning a National Championship two years ago-punching above where we should have been if the money situation is true.

So why NOW should the fan’s expectation of a National Championship (if that is really fair anyway seeing we haven’t won one since 1986) be any different than before?

To be fair…should PSU carry a top 5 fiscal collective strategy for multiple years…before we blow the team up for not being consistent National Title Contenders?

And side tangent, but the people sucking Nick Saban’s stogie are idiots-he did not run clean programs-the evidence suggests otherwise. It’s disgusting that ESPN shows him 24/7 but can’t even whisper Paterno’s name. Paterno walked so Saban could be a fink. **** ESPN.

Get back to me when this year’s team actually wins 6 games. So a coach who never won a single championship or qualified for any playoff games coaching a decade at a P4 program is going to lead Penn State to National Championship. Okay whatever you say.

So back to this RB we just picked up. He is not rated high but I understand he was injured his entire junior year. Is he a 4 star talent sans injury? How does he look this season?

How much will he cost? I hate to ask.

How’s that change working for you? The problem wasn’t Franklin. The problem was lack of support if you wanted to be like Ohio State, Georgia, Texas, or Alabama year after year. If you wanted a team that recruited scholars athletes who went to class, didn’t cheat, was competitive, and made you proud you must have liked JoePa. And James Franklin.
How did this lack of support get PSU the #2 ranked team in 2025 and then force it to lose to an 0-4 team with a new head coach and OC? I'll hang up and listen.

Nick is the GOAT. The history books will document his amazing talent. Have you seen the recent documentary about him? Fantastic watch, not some measly hour long single show, it is a six-part series.

We flushed money down the toilet in '25. An utter waste. Allar, Singleton, DDS, Allen, Durant, Wheatley all to lose to a pathetic UCLA team then lose to a weak NW team.

Things have been fixed by the new regime!

I never said he would. In fact I said "if/when he fails" which should indicate where I land on this.
Doesn't mean we don't give him 3 years to try

good get for PSU - it will take time but Campbell will build the program. I know it will piss off some people here if he is successful and PSU starts winning - weird we have a few posters here that want PSU to fail and the Team to lose - I know one is a BGJ azz kisser and is butt hurt he was let go but not to worry he will probable be at UM or USC next year anyway and you hopefully can move to one of the board and kiss his butt there.

That would be precious if BGJ ended up at MeatCHEATAGAIN! He would set a record for consecutive losses to OSU by a Michigan coach.

Yeah, he's lonely and angry about life after losing his wife. He takes out his anger by being an obnoxious, negative know-it-all and taking constant shots at PSU past, present, and future.
Losing the love of ones life is an indescribable tragedy. I'm not certain how that coincides with opinions on a football message board. In the end, this is about different perspectives in the life of a sport fan. Win or lose, normal people get out of bed, cherish their loved ones, go to work and move on with their lives...
Using the death of a spouse to rabbit punch someone you disagree with on a silly message board, speaks volumes about how despicable you are as a person in real life.

Actually continuing to be an arrogant old smug troll who uses this board hourly to whine because you disagreed with a HC being fired shows you lack any self control or self awareness. The sheer volume alone means something is wrong. Don't you dare lecture anyone about how you're some sort of moral compass when your glass house has as many holes as anyone else. You think you're the only person to lose someone and that somehow gives you a free pass????? JF got fired, you disagreed.....I think most got it by now. Maybe sometime in the near future you can stop the web napkin act.

Interesting reply from a sanctimonious individual who announced he put me on ignore. No one is forced to agree nor even read my posts. How are you enjoying excellence at the highest level?

I have written repeatedly that a parting of ways was needed. Simple people can't dissect complex issues.
I may differ with the timing and I take issue with the search. Which was a one-man dumpster fire. Please justify the loss of an entire recruiting class and a 54 day search that saw virtually every real and perceived target get a raise and extension to thumb their nose at PSU. Tell me it didn't make PSU a laughing stock in the College Football world. It isn't a simple coaching change that created this mess into a massive rebuild.
Please tell me the future is bright! Not top 20 in NIL and a recruiting class ranked 7th or 8th in the conference. Forgive me if I don't lose my sh## over the 60th ranked RB commit (I acknowledge he is likely underrated, so top 40?)

The purpose of this coaching change and the stated goal was excellence at the highest level.
Franklin is just fine where he is at. He's doubled the win total at VT with 4 games to play. With the cool 9 million he collects from PSU his compensation will average 10 million per year for the next 5 years at VT.

Let's talk about Penn State Football. At best they finish 8-4, one game below disappointment with the most manageable schedule we will ever see. Then we can discuss the 2027 schedule.

Sorry, nobody wants PSU to lose which is why so many are upset that they are losing. It’s only acceptable on this board to want PSU to lose if Franklin is the coach. The hypocrisy runs amok.

No PSU fan one wanted Franklin to lose the WO to Oregon, then coach perhaps the worst game in PSU history losing to a feeble UCLA, then lose to a bad NW on homecoming. Somehow, someway, Franklin incredibly achieved that trifecta, but to be clear no one wanted him to have that epic fail he did have.
