Great prospect as a bench big if things go right for Pope this year.

Does not move the needle to keep Pope though imo like a unanimous top 10 guy would/could
Obviously, UK may never land this kid and I don’t know how ready he’ll be to contribute, but from the footage I’ve watched I have to agree with you that I think Millogo could be part of the solution at Center next season for UK. Pair him with a good upperclassman from the portal or possibly even a wider-body good hands freshman to go along with Reece Potter (UK lucky to have him as a 3rd string option) and the position might be covered fine.

But landing a high school player ranked Top 10 in one of the recruiting rankings is completely irrelevant to me in regard to my opinion as to whether UK should retain Pope. I want a coach that gives UK its best chance to win a national championship year-in-and-year-out, and winning high school recruiting titles is not a good determinate of that – especially when it’s based on OAD kids.

Now, I still believe high school recruiting is important – although mainly for building a foundation for the future - but it seems retention (first) and transfer portal (second) are more important in a vacuum if we’re just talking about winning in one particular season. However, I do think NIL’s ability to keep some freshmen that would otherwise leave makes a difference in regard to building a foundation (and if you don’t keep an eye on building your foundation you could be screwed the next season).

Oh come on..... How many of these have we seen for recruits to end up someplace else?
In the Pope era, it is wise to count your chickens when they have hatched.

He is extremely hard to project to college basketball next year. There just haven’t been many of the freakishly tall guys ranked high in the recruiting rankings.

Using 247 rankings(focused on centers) there have only been two 7’2 and above(listed height) guys in the top 50 of their class: Bol Bol and Aday Mara. There were some guys right outside the top 50 by their rankings (Hunter Dickinson and Daniel Jacobsen(at Purdue now)).

Think he is an ideal Kepnang replacement in year 1 behind a third year Malachi.
I believe 6 out of the top 12 are centers in next years class.

Anyone this tall has a mean mindset they will be good even if they aren't a great basketball player. Only problem is 9 times out of 10 they don't have that aggressive approach. Shaq was an outlier. Edey is pretty mean also.

Wish I was 7"5 yall could say 40-0 without being funny.

If Moreno doesn't go pro I see him transferring.

Is this kid closer to them or the kid that went to Florida? There have been a lot of giants who were not a factor at all.
Part of that is on the coaches. It's their job to find creative ways to make these guys successful. If you recruit a guy and he does nothing, that's at least partly on the coach.

Why? He would be a starter next year too. We would have a massive front court to work with.
Just a guess. Not as a knock to UK. Just because its so easy to transfer and I wouldn't be surprised at a young person wanting to change their scenery for the heck of it.

Not like I have a strong feeling he would transfer. Not him personally. Just hard to keep any player three years in the transfer portal. So many options. Different cultures. Different campus/scenery. Different weather.

Even as a die hard if I was in the players position I would check out my options.

I wouldn’t be surprised at all, I just think his NIL market is greater here. If he has a great year he will be highly paid once again to return.

Nice to see him leading the fast break and dishing out assists. He could push our guys for playing time at the point.

We hired his former coach to get him. If this doesn’t work then the sky is falling!

Way different situations but sure. Jasper wasn’t necessarily wanted back. Not worried either way. We will be fine next year.
Hopefully UK can upgrade at the center position regardless if he stays or not. Hes not much of a presence down low.

Other than being a Kentucky boy im not sure what BBN is stuck on him for. I've never really cared about where a player is from. Just how they perform. Hes mid.
