That doesn't seem to be hindering Alabama according to the graphic. We’re 14th - 15th in spending in the SEC.

We have a few very loyal basketball boosters. So while in theory your plan sounds good, the options are they either fund basketball or they do not fund basketball. So we're spending just enough to still not be competitive in the SEC both football and basketball. We can't be everything. I'd just cut basketball in half and give it to football.
They don't, except for the ADs. And to get that info would take an incredible amount of investigative journalism. How does anyone know what the numbers really are
I’m even surprised they’re not Tier 2. They have some good NIL deals, strong local and alumni support, and the most insane waitlist for tickets of any program anywhere![]()
This is interesting-
-The BigEast is 2nd in avg spend and the ACC is 5th.
- The Big10 and Big12 would have to increase the avg spend by over 1/3 to match the SEC's avg spend.
I like that the article included Gonzaga(Tier3), despite them not being in one of the 5 listed conferences.
My perception is that my neighbor's not going to win a lot of basketball games this year. They don't, except for the ADs. And to get that info would take an incredible amount of investigative journalism.
What they do have, is the 'perception'. Sort of like how you judge your neighbors by the house and what's in the driveway.
And that's hiiiiiighly subjective.
Yeah, when I see Georgia in a lower level I have to agree. So we're spending just enough to still not be competitive in the SEC both football and basketball. We can't be everything. I'd just cut basketball in half and give it to football.
You clearly did not read the article to see what transfers were pulling. Our star is worth a lot elsewhere also.I wouldn’t trade him for the world but this is the negative of having a superstar “college” player. He means more to us than he would to anyone else and he is going to get more NiL each year and not go to the NBA in year 3. So we kind of are overpaying for him.
Yeah, I appreciate the article’s effort, and I don’t think it’s too far off overall, but there is absolutely zero chance that Oats and Jans have similar budgets. Bama is likely much closer to Tier 2 than Tier 4, and you can take a quick look at their last 4-5 recruiting hauls to confirm thatThat doesn't seem to be hindering Alabama according to the graphic.
I’m not saying he wouldn’t fetch a hefty price as a transfer. I’m saying the optics of keeping a huge brand ambassador adds to what we are going to pay to make sure he stays here. For LSU he’s a player that gives you 20 ppg, for Mississippi State he’s the face of your program that will have a significant legacy despite the teams’ results. You clearly did not read the article to see what transfers were pulling. Our star is worth a lot elsewhere also.
Outside of Kentucky (which has faded the last few years), does the SEC have that much of a national draw in basketball outside of the NCAA tournament period?Take the baseball money and give to basketball so we can be good in something (that people actually watch).
I'm assuming you forgot the sarcasterics.Jans doing less with more
