more proof of how destructive Trump has been. Even if you hate Dems - and there are plenty of valid reasons to feel that way - you should want a congress that can check all his corruption.

Lyndsey was worth 1.3MM when he died. If he was corrupt, he was bad at it.
What if the probe found off shore bank accounts? That would upset that narrative. What if the probe found black mail evidence of Lindsey sleeping with all those DC twinks that have come out after his death to let everyone know he was calling for men escourt services all the time?

If you're actually playing by the rules, politics is not set up to provide a path to wealth...

Yea, senators only make $174K. So not super successful or anything. And Lindsey had that job for 23 years. He was an attorney before politics.

Still, a net worth of only $1.3M at 71 years old is a horrible failure if accurate.

I wouldn't describe what Graham had as "wealth". I know this isn't perfect math but if all he'd done was save 10% of his $174k and invest it for those 23 years, it'd be worth $1.65M on its own, or thereabouts. I have to agree with @scotchtiger that with the career Graham had, he should have had way more than that if he was being financially responsible.

Of course, what Graham accumulated shouldn't be described as "wealth", and that's my point,... Graham played by the rules and apparently didn't prioritize money.

I'm trying to say I mostly agree with Scotch that Graham should have had more.
  • We can't assume he played by the rules just because he doesn't have a lot of money. He could have blown it all on hookers.
  • I can assure you that I play by the rules and I'll be worth a lot more than Graham was when I'm his age. That Graham didn't have more money than he did is strange and probably points more to him being financially irresponsible than anything else.

remember these guys keep two households ..on in SC and one in DC...it's not cheap being in Congress.

Oh, and they have a good retirement program. So being single, he knew his future was secure.

Meant to share more detail on this because it’s very misleading.

First, his pension is going to pay him about $120k annually and give him health insurance.

Second, his 401k equivalent (TSP) is not reported as part of those assets.

It’s also not counting his primary residence as it was explained to me.

So id say for a guy as dumb as he is who loved tranny hookers, he probably did ok. If he wasn’t senator he probably would’ve been selling mobile homes in Easley.

I thought a lot more of Graham when he was aligned with McCain.
