Math is fun

This works for all squared numbers:

11^2=?
10^2 +10 +11 =11^2
100 +10 + 11 =121
11^2 =121

16^2=?
15^2 + 15 +16
225 + 15 +16 =256

Since this is a “Make it what you will” thread,

Slightly useless trivia that some people may not already know:

Rule Of Thumb:

The speed (in knots) at which a tire will begin to hydroplane on (un-grooved) wet pavement is generally equal to nine times the square root of the tire pressure in pounds per square inch

Speed in miles per hour (mph) equals speed in knots multiplied by 1.15

These are true statements learned decades ago when I was flying Phantoms. Air Force F-4 main tires were inflated to 365 psi. The math comes out to about 197 mph (172 kts) for hydroplaning. Also, the 9,000’ (at the time) runway in Meridian was grooved for the entire length. With a typical ~2,500# fuel remaining weight at landing, we’d touch down at about 148 kts (170 mph) but touchdown itself would instantly burn off about 20 knots plus we normally used the drag chute on every landing. Stopping on available runway remaining was never a problem.
