Games of the Week Predictions - Week 9.. Just like that.

Class A: Millard North (7-1) at Bennington (8-0)
- I have been wrong before... But, I feel like this is a game that will leave people wondering just how serious Bennington is as a contender. They're good, really, really, good. But, they're not better than Westside / Millard South. I think that's probably a given. They are, however, better than Millard North, at least on Friday night they will be.
Bennington: 24 - Millard North: 23

Class B: Gretna East (7-1) at Omaha Skutt (7-1)
- Should be a good game, with lot's of talent on the field. The talent scale tips one way, though, east..
Gretna East: 34 - Omaha Skutt: 22

Class C1: Pierce (8-0) at Central City (4-4)
- Pierce is going to win the game. Unless they don't. They're the better team, but what does Central City have to lose? Nothing. I think Central City knows how to score points and that matters. However, Pierce is just too much. My gut instinct tells me this is JUST like the Wahoo Ashland Greenwood game from last week. AG is the better team, but I said, if Wahoo keeps it close, watch out. Same here.
Pierce: 32 - Central City: 21

Class C2: A list of 'em.
- Fremont Bergan (8-0) at Yutan (8-0)
Bergan: 24 - Yutan: 22
- Grand Island Central Catholic (8-0) at Gothenburg (7-1)
GICC: 56 - Gothenburg: 12
- Hartington Cedar Catholic (8-0) at Ord (7-1)
HCC: 35 - Ord: 34

Class D1: Amherst (5-3) at Alma (5-3)
- This one carries a bunch of playoff implications.. It's the district championship, for starters (I believe). Also, they're sitting at Amherst 14 and Alma 17 in the power points. So the loser *COULD* not only miss the auto bid, could potentially lose their bid all together. A lot riding on this game.

Alma vs. Amherst will determine the district championship, but not in the way you are thinking where the "winner" is the champ automatically.

Alma, Amherst, and Elm Creek are all 2-1 in district play.

I believe Elm Creek beats Kimball, so they will finish 3-1 in the district.

If Alma beats Amherst, they also finish 3-1. They win the district based on head-to-head win over Elm Creek.

If Amherst beats Alma, they finish 3-1. Elm Creek wins the district based on head-to-head win over Amherst.

Amherst can only win the district by beating Alma, and then Kimball beating Elm Creek.


I need to know what the heck happened to Amherst last week against Elm Creek. A 61-6 loss came out of nowhere, given their comparable scores within the district.
