This is an interesting case study regarding NIL money. So many folks are now claiming we don't have enough NIL to compete with the big boys, no matter how awesome our coaching/recruiting is ... but here we have a middling recruit, who we apparently valued highly, who jumped ship to attend a school with virtually no NIL money, comparatively speaking. Sure, it's a "hometown team" (Natick - his hometown; and Westwood - the town where Xaverian is located, are both a stone's throw from Chestnut Hill ... my kids have played many a game in each of those locales), but, still ...
Doubt there is any way to find out the entire truth, however, my guess is he was a bargain basement commit (NIL) as Campbell was still enjoying the reputation of a savant who saw talent where no one else would dare to tread,,,he and his team are not having a banner year, PSU might land Armstrong and Manske might occupy 27-28 and it isn't like PSU has a bright future at the moment. Stay home, and get the chance to play. The love for him here (top 500) and insistence he was better than Bourque was misdirected. No big loss.

Lol, you're asking alot from people that lost their minds after the 4th game of Campbells PSU coaching career.
It's crazy, isn't it? It was pretty easy to see this coming.

You can blame Kraft - that makes sense and I'd be fine if he's shown the door. But this is going to turn around because Campbell is a much better coach than Franklin and if he's able to land a few good recruits, you'll quickly see results.

Yea, he for sure did not help the situation, lol. I have no problem giving a coach a minimum 3 years to recruit and establish a culture. People want instant gratification. Sure, everyone wants to see this team be successful in year one under new leadership but its just not this year and more than likely next year. Granted with the transfer portal wild west madness, PSU could find themselves in a much better situation next year. However, that would require a good bit of NIL. Need to keep top players at PSU like Howard. Maintaining your top talent on your roster is priority #1. Then find pieces to fill in the gaps and depth as well. That is going to be tough to do because I have no clue how much NIL is there. I am hearing all sorts of numbers but I do not know what to believe.

ON3 is predicting it and 247 is hinting at it. We will have Manske and Evans as qbs next season. Campbell unable to compete with BC for a 3 star qb.

Prior to the 2028 commit, he was behind Manske for practice reps and playing time. What looks to be the stereotypical QB Campbell seems to recruit, shorter and mobile, the likelihood of injuries to the starter may improve a backup's chances of getting playing time.

I could see Wood's decision being more common as recruits may choose to commit to a lower ranked team or in a lower ranked conference to get the playing time and eventually be recruited by a more competitve team,
vs
sitting and waiting behind someone at the same school.
Congress's limit to the number of transfers may increase the commit moves.
