I’ve seen a lot of people destroying that kid for dropping the wide open pass on that last drive that would have led to a game tying TD. After watching the replay again, and seeing the shadows on the field it appears the late afternoon low angle of the sun was probably right in his eyes as he turned to look for it. Wasn’t as easy a catch as many are saying. But the internet analysts are always right!!!
at the end of one of the replays you can actually see him make a gesture toward his face mask maybe indicating the sun played a role.

During the game, broadcast, they cut away for a second, then back to the receiver and he is signaling to the QB that he lost it in the sun.

Very good point. Given that intense sun, I was hoping Maryland would keep attempting to pass in that direction. Announcers did a poor job with that one. Other thought was that the pass was low so not a slam dunk but it was catchable if he could seet.

To make it worse he went from shade to sun just as the ball was arriving. Finally RU got the bounces in their direction

Never ever should have come down to that. Having a 14 point lead with 3 minutes and 30 seconds to go in the game and your opponent is on their own 10 yard line with 4th Down and 3. A 45 yard #ucking pass? Easy score follows. And we get can’t one First down to ice the game. Seriously??? WTF
