Completely disagree. This isn’t 20 years ago let alone 10 years ago. Completely different ball game right now and being in the Big Ten or the SEC, even at the bottom, matters in a big way. Too many teams are proving how quickly a program can be turned around with a good coaching staff and the proper support. I’m not talking national championships, but plenty of other programs are turning around enough just to be competitive, fun to watch, and have a chance. There’s no doubt what’s over in my mind that good coaches, up-and-coming, or whatever, will be interested in both jobs.

Exactly. The calculus of hiring coaches has changed a lot. Like the NFL, college football is full of copycats. The trend has been to hire coaches from lower levels with long track records of success. After Cignetti's success at Indiana, that's going to accelerate. Even before Cignetti, there were a few examples of successful lower level coaches succeeding at P4 programs. That's the kind of coach that RU has never hired.

"You know...there were some things....we saw some things....I don't know maybe....but we needed to get guys reps during the 2-weeks...reps doing what we do....what we teach and practice all year long...not worry about the other guy."
