It was 1991, but yeah, John Sullins, Bama Linebacker, even admitted after the game as doing such.

Yes, yes, yes.........This should go in my top 4.........We had Bama's *** beat.........That POS John Sullins (Sulligent, AL) was barking out the cadence and our LT (Michael Montgomery) moved costing us 5 yards and moved the ball from the 1 to the 6 and.........

Bama still with their panties wadded got me to thinking about the worst bad calls we've had against us. My top ones:

1. refs saying we pushed the bama recover out of bounds when he ran out on his own.

2. the PI in the endzone in the Egg Bowl.

3. Memphis not being called for two players wearing the same number on that punt return for a TD.
On the Memphis play, it wasn't just the two players wearing the same number. The ref waved his arms over his head to stop the clock and threw his bag down to end the play but then just let it go after the Memphis player ran in and grabbed the ball to run with it. Play was waved dead which it should have been.

Just want to throw in the John Wall missing a free throw and following it in for a lay up to win the SEC tournament. Not sure how anyone didn't think it was a lane violation.
It was actually Eric Bledsoe who shot the free throw. Wall wasn’t even one of the players set up by the lane, but was standing outside the three point line. He ran in as soon as the ball left Bledsoe’s hands and was actually standing in the middle of the lane when the ball hit the rim and he’s the one who got the rebound. A player standing outside the three point line commits a violation if he goes inside the three point line before the ball hits the rim. Bledsoe also committed a violation by crossing the free throw line before the ball hit the rim. Somehow the refs missed both of those violations and Kentucky won. It took me years to get over that loss.

Yes, we were down 13-7 late in the fourth quarter and had the ball on the Bama 1. Got called for a false start due to Alabama mimicking our snap count, which should've been a penalty on them. Instead of at the 1, we had the ball at the 6 and had to pass it, and wound up throwing an interception in the end zone and Bama won 13-7.
Yep....couldn't remember the year, but they called it on Michael Montgomery, our gigantic OL from Okolona.

John Sullins story:
I was friends with the AT down at EMCC when John's dad was Tom Goode's DC. John was an assistant coach at the time on defense. I never even thought of the whole history with him playing at Bama. We were all out one night pretty hammered and at a waffle house in Columbus during offseason. I was coming out of the bathroom when John was coming in and I was in "drunk not knowing my own strength mode", so I overdid it opening the door. Hit Sullins in the head so hard he slid down the opposite wall of the hallway holding his bleeding nose. I inadvertently got revenge for State.

To me, it has to be the Memphis State TD return where the ref blew the play dead, after our players downed it. I don't think I've ever seen anything that ridiculous.

Their guy is about to score but celebrates early dropping the ball at the 1. Ball goes thru the end zone. Realizes he screwed up and grabs his helmet. Ref runs down and signals TD.

The BYU game in general in Starkville. There were numerous bad calls (or really, non-calls. Same result).
Worst officiated game I’ve EVER SEEN and I had a up close view from our home field sideline that night.
But BYU was undefeated and a Top 10 team and they had the MWC officials to make sure they stayed undefeated.

We had a LB’s coach for us in the 80’s named SE Sullins.
Would this possibly be John Sullins Dad ?

That's him.
One day in practice he called one of his DL a **********. Next day he called him into the office and said "Wyman, yesterday I called you a **********. I have no proof that you suck cock and until I find out otherwise, I apologize." **edit to add, isn't is crazy that this site blanks out ********** but not cock?
