Does Iowa want to see Nebraska and Wisconsin in the Too 25?

Would make sense as it would only make Iowa’s wins over them more special and help their chances of getting into the playoffs. I am not sold on any of these teams especially Wisconsin and Nebraska as the fade will come soon. If Nebraska’s QB goes down as he’s a damn good one they would be in a world of hurt. I think Iowa will SMASH them especially on the 100th anniversary of these 2 schools playing against one another. I will be there at Kinnick for that game as well as all other home games. I truly like our chances but one game at a time is the safest bet… and no one that remains on Iowa’s remaining schedule is going to be a cake walk… especially Northwestern! I love our chances to go 11-1 with a little help from the man upstairs! ON IOWA AND GO HAWKS!

Generally, of course! A little number next to their name doesn't change anything about the team on the field, but it does provide a ton of benefits for Iowa to beat ranked teams.

That being said, I personally kind of think we're past that. We're in the endgame now. If Iowa goes 11-1, they are virtually guaranteed a playoff spot. If they go 10-2, I think the reality is they're likely going to get left out in the cold on the basis of strength of schedule and a lack of quality wins. If that's true, I think we want to see the rest of the teams on the schedule start to get roughed up in some of these games (Nebraska/Oregon, Northwestern/Oregon, Washington/Purdue, Penn State/Purdue, UCLA/Wisconsin, USC/Wisconsin). Not because it will ultimately help Iowa's chances (because to my earlier point, previous losses doesn't change anything about the team on the field), but because it means there could potentially be less friction down the stretch as Iowa tries to run the table and secure a playoff bid.

SOR will matter if Iowa ends up 10-2. If I had to place a bet on our exact record, I’d pick 10-2 with 9-3 being a close second.

Assume everyone here is a Hawkeye fan and the number one goal is to make the playoffs. I also realize that what we are rooting for has zero impact on what actually occurs, but from a fan standpoint, we should be hoping that Nebraska, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Northwestern win as many games as possible.

The question here revolves around the points of going 11-1 or 10-2. Also If people want to see Iowa in the CCG. If the hawks are 11-1 and Indiana is 11-1, it would go to the fourth tie breaker looking at the winning percentage of conference opponents. It's really an odd situation, wherein a 11-1 Indiana would likely be placed above a 11-2 Iowa team in the CFP, if the hawks show up the same way they did against OSU in the regular season.

No. IDGAF about “SoS”. I want them to coming in with all pipe dreams completely crushed and programs in disarray. All Iowa has to do is win and the rest figures itself out. **** nebby and wisky.
Would I love to see Wisky, Nebraska, Minnesota, ISU lose every game? Absolutely.

But not at the expense of missing the playoffs. So the question is, would rather they all suck and all go 5-7 at the expense of Iowa missing the playoffs or would you rather they be good enough (8-4, 9-3) that would allow Iowa to make the playoffs? That is the exercise.

IF we go 10-2 we will possibly be competing directly with UCLA/USC/ and one of INDIANA/anOHIOstateU for the BIG spots. 4 teams would be the max I would think.

Perception will matter late and having Nebby/Becky on the schedule ranked all year will quiet the "schedule is weak" crowd. It would suck to the 5th team in that scenario.

No offense man, but why would I ever want Wisconsin or Nebraska ranked?! I wish nothing but the worst for them always.

I think the Big 10 still has a championship game so it would be nice to win the Big 10 championship. Does that get an auto berth into the CFP?

I would like to see Wisconsin at 2-2 in the BT and 4-3 overall when they play us. (UCLA is more vulnerable now with their QB out though). I believe Nebraska will lose at least 2 more games before playing us. (Could be 8-3 overall when playing us...so not a playoff contender at that point)
Relax this weekend. Whatever happens, happens.

I am with you as I hate both teams but just saying it would look good on Iowa’s resume down the stretch
Iowa will go to the CFP with 11 wins; they won’t with 10 wins; it is very unlikely that the records of their past and future opponents will make a difference. Might as well cheer against teams we don’t like.
