Just not seeing the same perspective as some of our fans…..

if you compare Pope’s results to Calipari, then he has done a good job. Our smart fans wanted Calipari fired 2 years earlier, he is the most overrated coach in the Hall of Fame. List the number of championships that we did not win when Cal had the best 3 players on the floor and see if you still disagree. Neither Pope nor Calipari are coming close to the standard

Mitch Barnhart not only did a good job with Pope but also locked up Will Stein. When I see 8 year old Stein in his Kentucky uniform or celebrating a win on TV talking about how much he loves Kroger field and the Big Blue fanbase. I’ve never said only a genius like Mitch Barnhart could have got him here.

Only 5 coaches in UK history have won a NCAA title. Cal is one of them. Pope is not.

Cal has 4 Final 4s at UK, Pope has 0

Cal has 7 elite 8s at UK, Pope has 0.

if you think Pope has done a good job compared to Cal you’re just blind or beyond salty at Cal.

Even with Cal almost every year outside of maybe 3 we had a chance to win it all. With Pope we have not had a single roster capable of winning it all.

Pope is garbage and is currently tanking our program. He needs to go ASAP.

When you currently think of UK basketball what is even the first thing that comes to mind? It can’t be championships. It can’t be elite level players. It can’t be “We have a chance to win it all this year” You know what I hear from most fans? “You gotta give Pope more time” This is year 3, how much time are we going to give an average coach to prove something he’s never been able to do his entire career. It’s lunacy.

15 years compared to 2 of course the numbers are always going to look good for Cal in that situation.

Pitinos only legitimate championship was with a team of 9 pros...does the same logic apply?

He could never beat Calipari while cal was here (he still cant beat him) so ppl can't have it both ways. Why didnt pitino just get a few better players, he intentionally made it harder for himself?

Also, I truly believe we were cheated out of 1-2 more titles in the Cal tenure because of cheating refs. Say what you will but some of the calls against Wisconsin and UConn were downright blatant cheating.
I agree with this to an extent. I'm sorry, though, crooked refs or not, not winning a title in 2015 is 💯 on Cal.

Ridiculous, generational power roster. Yet, failed when it counted.

Let em talk. They actually believe they have any influence at all on who coaches UK. I mean, what do you call those people? Retarded seems a tad harsh but being young, spoiled and gullible seem about right.
Ridiculous. Message board posters express their opinion on pope. They (we) know it’s not our decision.

What do you call “those people” who generalize based on their incorrect view by name calling? Around here we call them @GoAndRunIsGoneAndDone

He's gonna get his 3 years. Let's see what they can do this year and then flip to a new coach next year if needed. It's not rocket science.

I'm nervous that these 5th year guys have skewed some of our more winnable games like Kansas (Tre White, Melvin Council), Louisville (Seth Trimble), UNC (Fens), and Indiana (Sam Alexis). All those teams really improved at their weakest positions getting 5th year guys in.

Dude. Pope sucks. Cal has nothing to do with this and he's gone.

Yep. With the transfer rule being what it is, three years is plenty to show that you can build a team that at least resembles a title contender. At this point, he hasn’t shown that he can do any better than Cal’s last few years.

Another 12-15 loss season & early tournament exit and I’m ready to call this a failed experiment.

Cal has 1 Title in 40 years of coaching. Keep hugging his sack though.
Many big name coaches have coached their entire career without winning a championship. Rick Barnes, Bruce Pearl are just examples. Izzo and Beiheim coached forever and have won one. Those guys can be well thought of without their sack being hugged.
Bruce Pearl is mentioned on this board often as a possible replacement for Pope. Pearl, by your logic, can't coach. I am more concerned about who we have now. Very concerned.
