I am hearing that South Carolina had a sworn to secrecy scrimmage over the weekend and beat Davidson by double digits. The rumor is Marcus Johnson and Juan Fernandez had a good showing.

I am willing to bet that YOU MUST PAY to stream this game on Thursday. I thought this was the purpose of having ESPN Plus so games like this would be available.

At a minimum South Carolina should finish above Georgia, Louisiana State (if this four man roster is true) and Mississippi. I believe the ceiling or best case scenario would be to finish the season no higher than sixth place in the standings.

As Paris just said in his segment of SEC media days, South Carolina has been preseason picked to finish above midway in the league ZERO times in the last fifteen years. It’s easy for someone given a pencil and piece of paper to just put us last.

I do not think it is fair to say this is the worst team based off of two games in the Bahamas. South Carolina does have size that they can continually rotate off the bench. I really like Bieliauskas around the basket on both sides of the court. Jakub Necas can give South Carolina a spark when needed. Mincy showed some similarity to Meechie Johnson in that he can get on a streak and score in bunches. South CaroIina has some SEC experience coming off the bench with Polk and Assemian and addition a portal transfer Hugo Lopez could help South Carolina coming off the bench.

I will say that Fernandez seem to be in a funk both games in the Bahamas so I hope he has improved since then. There is one player I will not name in that every damn thing he did was clumsy in both games, so I do not expect too much from him this season.
