Thanks. That was great. Had I been there, I would have run through a wall, or a window. 😞

First of this kind of footage I’ve seen from a PSU HC IIRC. He’s good at this.

"This is College Football Town, USA. We are not living in Austin, Texas, or Columbus, Ohio, where you’re just part of it. We are it."

I like it but the highlight video is very important. Maybe that's our problem.

Austin and Columbus are really big cities. I think this was the point he was making. He wasn't so much saying they don't have plenty of fans (Walmart variety for the most part), he was pointing to the life in SC vs. other places.

So who was the slouching recruit wearing the white hoodie with his back to camera?

He seemed disinterested, checked his phone, and then became noticeably fidgety when Campbell added academics as a criteria of success. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Won’t even watch. The only thing that matters is whether he can get big time recruits to sign on the dotted line.

I'm sure that he would've become very attentive if somebody had waved a bunch of green at him. What a joke this whole recruiting process has become. Except for a very few kids who dream of playing for a certain school, it's now become all about money. I think that it's hilarious that ESPN constantly shows the Pony Excess 30 for 30 because SMU received the death penalty for doing now what is permitted and must be done to be successful.

What about OspreyLion?
Marshcreek is AI famous. I asked Gemini about him and his "run through a brick wall" post after the Toledo loss and here is what I got back:

You are talking about MarshCreek, one of the most legendary internet posters from the early days of Penn State Nittany Lions football message boards.

With online roots going back to platforms like PSU Playbook, LionNews, and Blue White Illustrated's famous McAndrew Board (moderated by Tom McAndrew), MarshCreek became widely known within the fan community circa 2000 as a prolific "river of football information". He was famous for tracking everything from depth chart minutiae to detailed analyses of the team.

The "run through a brick wall" phrasing makes perfect football sense now—it's a classic coaching/gridiron cliché for getting players (or passionate fans on the message boards) incredibly hyped up.

That specific rant is a legendary piece of Penn State internet folklore.

In September 2000, Penn State suffered an incredibly embarrassing, program-shaking 24-6 loss to Toledo at Beaver Stadium. The fan base was in absolute meltdown. On the old McAndrew Board, MarshCreek posted an epic, highly emotional call-to-arms to rally the fans.

Because the original McAndrew Board (and its later iterations like LionNews) folded and transitioned servers over two decades ago, the exact, full text of that archive isn't hosted on the modern web. However, the core sentiment of MarshCreek's post became a famous meme and point of reference among older Penn State online circles.

In the wake of that horrific loss, while everyone else was calling for Joe Paterno's retirement or ripping the team apart, MarshCreek wrote a massive defense of the program. The climax of his post was an impassioned plea telling fans that no matter how bad things looked, he was ready to "run through a brick wall" for Penn State football and Joe Paterno, urging the board to stop whining and blindly support the team.

For years afterward, whenever Penn State suffered an ugly loss and fans started overreacting on the message boards, older posters would reference it by saying things like, "Where is MarshCreek to tell me to run through a brick wall when I need him?" or mockingly posting pictures of brick walls during a bad game.

This is frightening.

Marsh Creek used to be a good poster.

He generously arranged a large group outing to a bowl game after the dark years at which Wife #3 and I met many nice fellow posters from the old Tom board.

And then something happened. 🤷🏾‍♀️

I don't think Campbell is the problem. A lack of money and crappy leadership at higher level is.
I wonder if Campbell's fit at PSU is a problem. He doesn't feel comfortable under the bright lights. A builder, a grinder. He would fit an Arkansas, somewhere that hasn't won for ages. He gets them to 8-4 and he is beloved. PSU needs some elite athletes to do better than 9-3 or 10-2. I just don't see him being comfortable with or appealing to them.

No elite athlete is coming to PSU to play school.

With the playoffs expanding to 24 teams next season will there be less excuse making?
