What I don't understand is how he had any jurisdiction over the matter.
He doesn't. Neither does Landry, Tater, Newsom, or anyone else.
I hardly think an Executive would be concerned with matters like that.....

We’re at the point where the executive and judicial branches just do whatever the 17 they want to do, and the legislative branch sits in Washington and collects a paycheck while arguing about daylight saving time.

MS will never be a leader in anything fun, but I’d love to see us exempt NIL from state taxes or find some other loophole that gave our schools an advantage in the game for even a year or two. Maybe make players who go out of state pay more taxes on NIL? Anything that would stick it to our conference mates.

They have TX and Bama at home. TX looks entirely beatable. Get by Bama and they are right back in it.
They won't beat Alabama. And Texas at home is a toss up at best.
