Ky FB I think was supposed to finish last or so, how about give this BB team a chance.
First season Pope was predicted 8th in the SEC, finished 6th. Second season we were predicted 2nd, finished 9th. Honestly 6th-8th sounds about right considering his average. I’m assuming we’ll end up 10-8 again, considering that’s where we finished the last couple seasons. And the SEC will be much harder to boot.

We were picked 2nd last year. Would y’all like last years results again? Can we play a few games and see what we got before we all sprawl on the floor kicking and screaming?
Agree, it's a guy who probably never even played organized sports giving an opinion. Last year these same experts had us as FF contenders . We'll know soon enough.

The expectation should be that we are one of the handful of teams that can win it all at seasons end. If we aren’t that, Pope has to go. Till then I’m just gonna watch and hope and see what shakes out. That’s really all any of us can do.

That’s about right.

Several of Pope’s Hail Mary attempts at a 15th recruit would have put us in the top 3 and two of them would easily have put us second. But with what we actually got we’re not going to be wowing anyone with our roster.

We could still wind up getting some kind of gestalt thing going on.

We’re more like a “handful of teams who are borderline top 25 teams and will have a chance with a fortunate draw to make the Sweet 16 before losing to a superior team.”

Arkansas being picked so high is curious.

Florida will likely win the conference.

Outside of Florida, there are a bunch of teams who probably will be pretty close. There might be 6-8 top 25 caliber SEC teams other than Florida.
The media still respect Cal. He did win the SEV tournament last season. We currently have a coach who does not garner respect from his peers, opposing fanbases nor the media.

These teams are all mostly dog crap other than Florida. They are clear favorite.

So what im saying is if we can win a game or 2 or lose a game or 2 more can be the difference between a double bye and finishing 7th to 9th for sec tournament.

Pope can't keep showing up unprepared. No more tons of double digit deficits to overcome.

Recruiting top players from the portal and highschool sets the stage to compete at a high level in this money take all. era.I hope Pope can breakthrough this down cycle of recruiting and bring in a stud or two with some decent portal players.

Basketball is killing the football high we’re experiencing right now. But Stein’s success is really bothering me that the basketball is struggling despite the amount of resources it has compared to the football team.
Simple solution: Give Stein the resources.

This will always be a basketball school, that will never change nor should it.
🙄. That is so weak. We're known for having great men's basketball program, but football needs a fair share of resources to get better. I'm talking nil revenue share. 75 football 15 basketball 5 Olympic and 5 back in general sports fund.

With Pelfrey in the mix, it’s gonna be really bad if Pope doesn’t far exceed expectations. I think another crappy season fans are ready to revolt. I did talk to a body of mine that’s connected with NIL and he made a point to tell me that Stein really likes Mark Pope. Which was his way of saying if Stein has a say in it Pope will be around for a long time.

Basketball gets what it needs and then we go from there. Maybe a better basketball coach won't need quite as much money and we can spread it around better, but who knows. Basketball eats first.

Pope will be the Ky coach for at least 5 more years. 2 more Sweet 16’s gives him 7 more years.
Will Stein will be offered several big time jobs over the next few years including Penn State & several NFL JOBS.

Pope has played like 70 games at this point.
And he’s on year 3 here with a roster that, at least on paper, looks like his best yet. We all know he’s probably gone if he has another bad year, so why not at least let the year get started before you go full 13-year-old-girl after getting dumped by your first bf?

I can't believe Momcilovic is not projected first team SEC. If they are right about that, then 7th place is pretty accurate.

It does not look like his "best yet", not even close.

You saying you’re having no fun about a season that hasn’t seen a single game yet says a lot more about you than it does about me.
2 seasons going 46-26 hasnt been much fun. losing isnt fun. getting down double digits all the time isnt fun. missing out on elite talent isnt fun. having a coach that makes an *** out of himself every time he speaks isnt fun. not being hyped to start a season because the roster construction looks mid isnt fun.

i suppose if you try really hard and reduce uk basketball into the tiniest thing and completely ignore all other context.....you can fabricate a scenario that might be fun. but as a uk basketball fan....i shouldnt have to do all that

We already have injuries. And we have injury prone players with 14-15 scholarship roster we are certain to have more. That’s a big part of the game. Pope can’t overcome challenges whatever they maybe each season.
No basketball team overcomes 3 injured starters. Not the 1996 UK team. They are starters for a reason. Even Florida this year. Pope has had that for his first 2 seasons.
