Over the last 5 years or more, the program has hit mediocrity. We are in a danger zone. A complete evaluation of the program is needed.

I wish Basketball had their own forum.

catfanlou · Monday at 12:59 PM

Actually I don’t . I think the board is easier to use having it all in one place .

Snarks · Monday at 1:02 PM

Is anyone actually excited about this season?

It’s been two seasons. It will change the minute Pope is gone.

Preseason picks mean nothing much. That said, I sure do miss being a preseason pick to win or contend for the conference title and a top 10 or so overall pick. But again, I think they mean nothing...other than we certainly have slipped a bit in the eyes of the folks that put these out.

bleedsblue5 · Monday at 1:13 PM

Pope has realed me in again, I think we have a good year.
If not, he is probably not gonna be here next year either way so either way there will some sort of progress.

I am very excited to see what Pope can do with a healthy roster for once. This season is going to be awesome if we remain healthy.

No and I wish it was easier to avoid.

I have an extremely cautious excitement. I am very down on Pope but I like a few of the players that will be here. This roster is not good enough for UK expectations or the money spent on basketball and Pope the last 3 years, but it's what we currently have.

what is a good year?

Wildcat_in_DC · Monday at 1:27 PM

i think you will see a sizeable portion of the fanbase totally checked out on this season. we lose the kansas game....i think it will be noticeable in the lack of attendance for home games.

We already have injuries. And we have injury prone players with 14-15 scholarship roster we are certain to have more. That’s a big part of the game. Pope can’t overcome challenges whatever they maybe each season.

CatBearPig · Monday at 1:36 PM

I couldn’t care less about UK basketball. Barnhart and Cal ruined it.

UKCowboys · Monday at 1:44 PM

If only we had another thread calling for Popes head. Refreshing

Beatle Bum · Monday at 1:51 PM

Stein agreed - stay off the dumb message boards.

MegaBlue05 · Monday at 1:51 PM

I don’t pay attention to or care about preseason anything. It’s just stupid speculation based off rosters on paper.

Look at our football team. We were projected to win 3-4 games and have already won 5 before Halloween.

Our team will speak for itself on the court. We will either have a great year and most everyone will be happy, or we’ll have a mediocre to bad one and roll the dice again on another coach in the offseason. Not much I can do but watch the games, so that’s what I’ll do.

Lastly, I am enjoying football too much to get my panties in a bunch over basketball nearly a month before the first real game.

UKWildcats1987 · Monday at 1:55 PM

Basketball is so irrelevant right now.

Football is king.

This is the basketball forum. I wish Football had it's own.

I've been on cloud 9 since saturday and I come here and get bummed out over basketball.

That's my view as well. Honestly, this forum is where I come when I Want to be miserable -- and that's with roughly half of the members on my ignore list. So many people here just want to be pre-miserable. How about at least let the season start and see how it goes?

I think the pair of Freshmen Brooms from Canada will improve our Curling team enough to seriously contend for the NCAA title this year, held in Buffalo, if we get consistent Stones all season.

Catastic5 · Monday at 2:58 PM

I don’t even know what to say at this point. I thought we’d at least be 5th. No one respects us anymore. We really are becoming Kentucky football of old.

UKreturntogreatness · Monday at 3:00 PM

I don't anticipate this seasons' UK basketball team losing any games.

RunninRichie · Monday at 3:03 PM

Nothing John Pelphrey cant fix!

Basketball is killing the football high we’re experiencing right now. But Stein’s success is really bothering me that the basketball is struggling despite the amount of resources it has compared to the football team.

Artlaibesghost · Monday at 3:10 PM

It's hopeless

Fun fact: did you know that both Mark Pope and John Pelphrey played at Kentucky?

These guys... they just get it!!!!

I want this to be not satire really bad.

We were picked 2nd last year. Would y’all like last years results again? Can we play a few games and see what we got before we all sprawl on the floor kicking and screaming?

TheResistance · Monday at 3:31 PM

Unacceptable.

RoyKent · Monday at 3:37 PM

Fire Pope tomorrow!

And we were picked 8th the year before that and finished 6th! Wow!

Wildcat_in_DC · Monday at 3:40 PM

7th in the rankings, but #1 in hugs given

Wildcat_in_DC · Monday at 3:40 PM

imagine spending 45M-50M over a 2 year span to be only this mediocre.

BBNinSCar · Monday at 3:41 PM

I have high hopes for this roster. I do not believe that Kentucky will finish that low in our conference. My expectation is a top 3 finish.

I’ll be on the bandwagon to run Pope out of Lexington if this team finishes as projected.

We need consistent stones all season for the basketball team as well.

Randy Bob · Monday at 4:04 PM

Ky FB I think was supposed to finish last or so, how about give this BB team a chance.
