If Daughtry would hurry up and commit already!could use a little bit more diversity

We have a Zach EdeyLike Trey's shot. McMonster will be a lob threat, as well as being able to alter shots. Good stuff.
Keep this one in your pocket from Iowa MBB media day, via assistant coach Bryston Williams:
“One that we even haven't talked about is Joey Matteoni. Very, very high IQ kid. Understands ball-screen coverage. Understands offensively how to keep the flow of the offense. The reason I bring that up is because when you don't have that star (aka Bennett Stirtz) to just give it to and put the ball in their hands, how can we help the other four keep the flow and keep advantages? That's where Joey is elite. Like really elite. He's always open. He always gets guys out of trouble. He can keep it moving. He's very smart and understanding when to screen, when not to screen, putting pressure on the rim. He just knows his role, and he's elite at that. He's one that's going to get a lot of opportunity.”
Coach disagrees with you.Last season:
Stirtz- great shooter
Banks- 40+% from 3
Cam- non- shooter
Combs- ok non- volume shooter
Koch- solid shooter
This season:
Combs- see above
Mckeever- non- shooter
Koch- see above
Sage- tbd
Howard- average shooter
I guess we will find out but I really see less overall shooting with the loss of our 2 best shooters from last season.
Now: hopefully Howard, combs, sage, thompson, coon, harris, and coleman shoot better than their career numbers....keep working, boys!

Really low volume though for Banks.and only if he was wide open. By my count he was 17 for 36 in the regular season Great % BUT an average of just over ONE three attempt /GM. In the post season he was 2 for 7, so just not much volume to work with.Last season:

One of the many different things about this year's Iowa MBB team is that there will be 4-5 shooters on the floor at once, vs. maybe only 2 at times last year (Stirtz + one other).
Here's what assistant coach Luke Barnwell told me today:
“There's days where you feel like we'll guard really well in practice, and you look at the sheet, and we shot 50% from 3.”
Ok, checked sage's numbers from last year...he hit 38.9% from beyond arc, only behind banks so my label is wrong. What was Banks 3point attempts per game? Yet Sage is tbd? Lol

Put together the best team you can, regardless of what they look like. Sure, in a perfect world, diverse is great. But just get the best guys for the system.could use a little bit more diversity

Banks made more 3 pointers than Combs and Howard last season at a much higher percentage. I'd rather have a high percentage shooter than high volume shooter. And banks? How many 3s was he shooting a game?

Just over ONE/GM . 37 on the season......And banks? How many 3s was he shooting a game?
While I'd agree with your premise, I'm not sure that really applies with a guy who only averaged ONE three point attempt/GM.Banks made more 3 pointers than Combs and Howard last season at a much higher percentage. I'd rather have a high percentage shooter than high volume shooter.
If they are going to be key guys they will need to shoot it better than last year..much improvement needed over off-season.
I am pulling for a great season but a little skeptical that we will be better without Alvaro,
Tavion and Bennett.
Lot of people projecting these two to start at 4/5 with Cam and McKeever. Unless they don’t project these 2 on the floor a lot together because those or the 2 I just don’t see taking outside shots this year unless cam developed a jumper this off season.
