Calling him "boy" really depends on whether he was a UGA or Bama fan.
"Let's go boy!" from an exuberant UGA fan is obviously postive.
"Let's go BOY!" from an angry Bama fan is obviously negative and deserves a Virgil Tibbs "I am not your boy." response.

Yes, but there was some discussion about whether that was an irate Bama fan or a UGA fan, at least at one point. I haven't seen confirmation wither way yet.
