Stein just said that was not a designed run.
Kenny did it again.

I mean that hole you could’ve drove a Mac truck through it smart play by Kenny!
Yep, just heard that. Minchey had the option and saw the light box and decided to go for the run.
It sure looked designed the middle was wide open.
He just said it wasn’t. Minchey set the motion and drew the defense to open it.
Hes not Brady but he’s damn good and smart.
Minchey continues to shine when needed most.
The FG drive, the conversion.

Smart and big he gave him credit, but that was absolutely by design.
I've already said it, he's a WINNER. Put him in a position to win late and he wins. We haven't had a QB like him in a WHILE. Dont tell me LEVIS, he had a weaker schedule and had better talent on that team as Minchey does. Levis also made mistakes that cost us games, Minchey doesn't.
Of course not. I see it as him being humble and giving the kid the credit. And he deserves it. He made a great read. But the that was part of the play design.
Correct. Its one of the checks. Light box is qb run. Genius play design. Great execution.
Thats why Stein made them burn the TO.
NO WAY Kiffen doesnt call one the second UK went 5 men wide

It was the same play as last week. Stein set it up beautifully. Minchey passed to the back of the end zone against usc. But when lsu spread out, minchey called his own number at the line. If ya notice, nobody ran across like last week. They stayed outside, holding the linebackers and keeping the middle wide open.
Kiffin had to see it coming but he used his last timeout and couldn't stop it. It was beautifully set up and executed.

THIS. The genius of that sequence of plays is that it set LSU up to have no recourse when they were outschemed and set up for failure by our play design. It was too late and I'm sure Kiffen's heart went into his throat when he saw Minchey motion our receivers out wide leaving that opening right up the middle you could have driven a semi through.
It couldn't have been a completely designed run. What if LSU had a single LB in the middle? I think that play always allowed the option for him to run, but he had to have had other options as well.
Just an amazingly coached game by Stein. The one thing I disagreed with was going for it instead of kicking the FG on that 4th and 3 in the second half, but if the one questionable thing your coach does in the game is to be a little too aggressive going for it when you have a shaky kicker I'll take it.

This. I was at the game and when we had Willie in the Wildcat formation, people around me were going crazy asking what were we doing. I said to relax because I knew we were making LSU burn their only timeout. I figured Stein would scheme something to get LSU spread out and he did. Brilliant coaching.
