I’m not personally a big Oats fan and would prefer he NOT be the next UK coach. But, again, if BG plays hard and focused all year that will reflect very poorly on Pope imo

So it will all be all on Pope and have absolutely nothing to do with a kid growing from one year to the next as they almost all do? Laughable. Have fun cheering for him so you'll have another reason to whine about Pope. smh. Pope syndrome is very real.

That being said, he won't be a world beater this year and the Pope lunatics will just act like they never said any of this and move the goalpost to a different gripe like they always do. Sad sack.

He had his moments here, I never hated him I just hated how he seem disinterested at times. He needed a coach that would get after him, Pope is never going to be that guy. I can see him having a good year.

sey? Always enjoyed your videos BTI have no idea who that person is but I love your deflection. Have fun watching loser oats give up 90 a game and Brandon's o

I had to goggle the name to figure out who you were talking about. Have fun watching Garrison with bated breath hoping he does well so you and others can waddle over here, do a back flip and cry about Pope. Clowns indeed.

Interesting, is it your contention that Pope doesn’t develope players? Doesn’t every coach have players that don’t improve?

the poster you’re talking to is a parody account that you don’t need to take seriously. Just a bored loser on a MB. With that said the argument most of us are making in this thread is not player development but actually just playing hard and with maximum effort when on the court.

I don’t get all the people thinking Garrison being lazy was on Pope. Garrison was immature and obviously didn’t want to work for his playing time. That’s on Garrision not Pope.
I certainly do not pretend to know, but I always kinda thought playing behind freshman Moreno affected Garrison's attitude. He seemed to sulk.
It will be interesting to see how well he performs and contributes at Bama. I definitely do not miss him, but will watch to see how he does ... same for Dioubate (LSU), Johnson (Oregon), Chandler (BYU), Lowe (Georgetown), Aberdeen (Florida), Jelavic (Ohio State) and Perry (Dayton).
I am curious to see if any seem to play much better than they did here. My guess is what we saw from them as Wildcats is who they are, essentially.

I was done with Garrison after that early season game where he turned it over and walked back on D.
He'd look really good against the occasional poor - mediocre SEC team but where was he when we played the Florida's, Alabama's of the world? Look no further than the tournament game against an Iowa State team who was playing without their best big for the first time all year. BG put up 1p 0a 2TO in 22 minutes.

If Oats can manage to develop him into a stud, I'd say that's the biggest indictment of Pope yet. Not sure if people are ready for how much of an upgrade Franck Kepnang will be at backup C compared to BG
Totally different makeup of the total team but I am worried that Washington had our PG and big Franck along with a first round starting center and they were a .500 team.

But Zoom was their second best player and Kepnang their starting center. Apples and oranges.
That is true, but Steinbach was their starter and he was the best player. He went like 14th or something in the draft. Unless they played them both together and that may explain why they had issues.

You’re vast posting history of doubting everything UK makes you very suspect, lol.
With Pope, yes. I was angry when we hired him. Pumped the next day and was in awe at the PC. Then the first season happened and it was up and down. Lotta good wins, lotta bad losses. Last year broke me with Pope because it wasn’t just the losses. It was coming into games totally unprepared and being down double digits almost every game. And the team totally quit in about ten of those games. Players loafing up and down the court constantly and then Pope pats them on their behind on the way to the bench. Drove me nuts. I hope Pope has a redemption tour this year but I’m very doubtful. He’s shown me more flaws than good coaching traits so far.

That's a reach.
Projection.
Point specifically to where I said its not part of a coaches job.
I'll wait.
Do you think BG will be all conference because Oats will demand it?
You said, “so it’s Pope’s fault because BG is lazy.” If BG is lazy and you recruited and signed him, then that’s on you and it’s your job to motivate him.

And BG wasn’t the only loafer we had. Moreno did it a lot of the season as well. Oweh loafed the first month of the season. I know he was coming back from injury but he was not playing hard. He turned it around obviously but everyone was wondering what happened to his fire that first month.

And the worst part is Pope would just slap them on their butts when they came out of the game and clap his hands. He yelled at BG one time I remember and benched him, which I applauded Pope for. And for most of the season he continued loafing all but a couple of games and then the Oklahoma games he would turn it up. Maddening that Pope didn’t get in his ear more.
