"Surmise" is not definitive. I'm ready for some FACTS! Until then, everyone is passing verbal gas.
FACTS! They aren't hard to locate.

But I'm sure Kirby is getting all of these guys on the cheap with the idea he'll make them so much more in the NFL in 3-4 years.

UGA's 2nd string is more talented that our 1st string.

Spurrier regularly mentioned how having a deep bench was the key to success in the SEC.

He took recruiting to the Top 10 and enjoyed those benefits for a few years.

5-star totals (247Sports Composite):
  • Georgia: 13 (4 in 2023, 4 in 2024, 4 in 2025, 1 in 2026)
  • South Carolina: 3 (1 in 2023, 1 in 2024, 0 in 2025, 1 in 2026)
4-star totals (247Sports Composite):
  • Georgia: 68 (17 in 2023, 16 in 2024, 16 in 2025, 19 in 2026)
  • South Carolina: 35 (10 in 2023, 8 in 2024, 9 in 2025, 8 in 2026)
Combined blue-chip (4- and 5-star) totals:
  • Georgia: 81
  • South Carolina: 38

Until a precise correlation of money to total talent can be established, which would require exact figures, there are really no solid grounds for comparisons. Add to that the factor of Georgia's legacy versus ours, the superior number of high school players in Georgia versus South Carolina, and the nebulous methods of assigning "stars", there is absolutely no way at present to analyze what makes either program better or worse than the other.

I think they're better and I also think they can be better without paying appreciably more NIL money, but the thing is, I can't necessarily prove that latter point without knowing precisely who is paying what, and how the schools stack up against one another in the other aspects I mentioned. No one else can prove anything either without hard information.

We all would like that. However, if you apply simple common sense to the fact that most players are getting paid in the NIL era - it's pretty obvious what is going on when you look at today's recruiting figures. Unless you believe players are choosing schools at a deep discount because of coaching which is quite the stretch.

I'm seeing a disconnect between what various sources are saying about Georgia's NIL expenditures versus ours, and in most of those pronouncements, the disparity is relatively small when laid against comparative program output. Intuition suggests certain things; hard data brings clarity. I'm tired of claims and speculations, that's all.

One reason is because they don't include national deals for the school and players in those estimates.

Again though, the recruiting tells the story.

We're not in pre-NIL days where UGA could create that disparity in top recruits organically.

Dabo and Clemson can attest to that.

Whatever the reason, the "data" isn't data. It's nebulous supposition and it's tiresome.

How many accounts have you admitted to? You're a bad joke ma'am. 🤣😅

It is ironic that the guy freely admitting to running multiple accounts has the schtick that all these other accounts are fake.

He was at least Wardjr on the other board, then came here and created this Roo handle and coopie.

Id almost be curious what other ones he has except i just dont care that much. :)

One for my phone and one on the desktop because I coudln't recall the sign in.

No need for a thousand accounts trying to bolster lame takes with gang-like behavior.

This is the main, maybe only, reason to stick it out with him as long as we can. Yes, "he wants to be here" is a silly platitude, but it's also very much true. I am a faithful subscriber to Occam's Razor and it can somewhat be applied to our current situation. All things being equal, the simplest answer is usually the right answer.
- We have a history of mediocrity, speckled with a couple of really high moments and really low moments (more low than high).
- We have a guy who genuinely wants to be the head coach of this program and genuinely cares about the players and developing them in life.

I think Shane would have turned down almost any program after 9 wins in 2024 to stay here outside of maybe a team like Bama, UGA, Texas, or Oklahoma. Otherwise, he was staying here.

That doesn't mean we keep him around forever. I think it does mean we give him every chance to get us back to a decent bowl game.

I am not sure we could do better from a staff standpoint and I think if we took a flyer on some hot shot lower division coach, he'd leave in about 10 mins if he won 8 games.

and a top 10 coach isn't going to come here.

He needs at least two wins from this point or you're likely going to see donor interest drop in the offseason as there's only so many ways you can rebrand back-to-back poor seasons.

Over the last 10 SEC games, he's been paid $10mil for one single win.

I do expect exciting games from this point forward.

Most of the teams have more talent, but it's kitchen sink time from this staff's perspective -- especially on the assistant coach side.

They've been competitive / close but things didn't break their way.

You need to find some Ws to make up for the last two lost opportunities at home.
