Seems to be a possibility we hear something soon with KentuckyMBB following him on IG.

Kid was big time years ago in HS then has been on a downward trajectory ever since his junior year in HS.

Was a 5 star and Cal’s first offer in the 2023 class ironically enough. Coming off a season ending injury at Northern Illinois last year.

No reason to think he’s ever more than a 12th-14th man on this roster(sorry Zyon you’ve got 15 on lock)

He’s attended 3 different high schools and 3 different colleges.

He’s already proven he couldn’t even play at the lower level. He was over rated and that’s fine. I guess as a practice piece, but it seems like a waste of NIL to me.

He did get recruited to play at Donda Academy in High school, where he averaged 16.8 PPG to Dillingham's 20.0 PPG. He had talent in high school so it may be mental or injury related. Like I said, seems like a lottery ticket at best. That isn't that high of praise.

I don't see an issue with adding someone that's basically a lottery ticket, rather than leaving the spot empty.
We have 5 guards - one is injured and no word on his availability this year, one is walkon level, and one is a outside-top-100 freshman.

We have 3 centers - one has an extensive injury history and one is walkon level

We have 6 forwards already. Barring a surefire starter at the 4, this is the last spot we needed to add someone.

I agree it’s not like he couldn’t do something, but it seems like his lottery ticket has already been cashed and it was a loser. If he played one year I’d probably agree. There is quite a bit of data already though. Mainly I don’t understand it from a roster need prospective. If he was a ball handling guard I could understand it more. Who knows if this is even real though.

Pope is so desperate to fill that last spot. And it senseless. He should leave that roster spot open. What if somebody wants to join midseason? A lot of what pope does makes little sense.. I mean when he does this it just makes you wonder if he just throws stuff at the wall to see what sticks. He shows like absolutely no formula for players like every player that’s had some success in history in their history popes system. And that’s what’s disconcerting about Mark Pope. If he had some sort of principle some sort of philosophy, I think a lot of us would think differently, especially if you follow the philosophy. But it’s pretty apparent that pope will take anyone

Honestly all this is:

Pope grabbing a guy who can at least stuff it down low a couple of times a game if Kepnang goes Quaintance and McBride doesn’t pan out and we wind up looking thin in the post.

I tease because of his heinous shooting but it’s really not a terrible move for what we want him for.

Not in October. Not once you figure in:

—How rare a Jarnell Stokes situation really is
—What are the odds a Jarnell Stokes would want to play for Pope

If you’re calling Reece Potter a walk-on level player I think you’re off-base by a quite a bit. He would be starting at good mid-majors, and those types are not walk-on level players even at the high major level.

But I would agree that if UK has options for a 15th spot at this point, 2G is the place of real need.
