After a dominating win against Penn State that showcased new Ryan Field on national television, the Cats get back to business this week as Ball State comes to Evanston, while NU alums celebrate Homecoming.

Ball State has been dominated by Ohio State and kicked around in its two MAC games so far. They are 5 touchdown underdogs. By all estimates, it should make for a substantial win, if the Cats don't suffer a serious let down after three weeks in the spotlight. There's no predicting Chip Kelly's playbook for any given game, but it's not unreasonable to think he will save special schemes for MSU, Rutgers and particularly Oregon on Halloween in Eugene.

Let’s score lots early in the first half to build a large lead. Then bring in the reserves in the 2nd half to give them experience and rest the starters. Hope our offense can score 40-50 points while our defense holds the opposition offense to 10 or less. Go Cats!

Why the weird start time?? 1130 and not 11am? What radio station 720 wgn with Dave e?
That's a good question. I would think the network would control that but maybe NU wanted a little more time to allow people to find their way in on the first day game at NRF. I have found in my experience handling just a group of 200 or so people is much more chaotic the first couple of times the group attends an activity. After they have been there a couple of times, the herd intellect is more established and things go more smoothly. I can imagine that the magnitude of chaos for managing 30,000 people would be incredible. Maybe giving folks a little more time in the morning will help the flow of newbies.

NU - Whatever Braun decides
Ball State - Very little

I’m not worried about our team having a let down. The coaches and players will not take any team for granted. I think we underestimate the ability of this team. The coaches will keep the first string in until they have safely cemented the game and then start resting starters. It would be good to see the backups get good playing time.
