It Would Be Absurd To Trust Democrats on Affordability

It is absurd, but millions of cultists will follow.

On Oct. 3, 2022, with the midterm elections less than five weeks away, the U.S. inflation rate had climbed to 8.3% under the Biden-Harris administration. Eventually, despite the passing of the Inflation Reduction Act earlier that year, inflation would skyrocket to 9.1%, its highest level since 1982.

On Oct. 3, 2026, with the midterm elections less than five weeks away, the U.S. inflation rate stands at 3.4% under the Trump administration. This comes one year and three months after the One Big Beautiful Bill Act was signed into law, which included making the Trump tax cuts permanent and eliminating taxes on tips for service workers and on Social Security.

In September of 2022, more than 227,000 people crossed the U.S. border illegally, a 12% increase from the previous month. About 20% of those crossings involved those who had tried to cross the border before. Shortly thereafter, Biden visited Arizona, a state overrun by illegal immigrants during his first and only term, but refused to visit the border.

“Why go to a border state and not visit the border?” Fox’s Peter Doocy asked Biden at the time.
“Because there are more important things going on,” Biden shot back.
On Oct. 3, 2026, zero people were released into the country who tried to enter in September. This continued an impressive streak of 16 months without one illegal being released into the United States under Trump, which ended the Biden era’s catch-and-release policy.

“The media and our friends in the Democrat Party kept saying we needed new legislation to secure the border — but it turned out that all we really needed was a new president,” Trump declared. And he was absolutely right.

Democrats Talking About Affordability Are Hilarious

https://www.realclearpolitics.com/a...alking_about_affordability_are_hilarious.html

You just have to love it, while these Democratic candidates are out there tweeting and chirping and criticizing President Trump and the GOP on the issue of affordability. Hahaha.

In the first place, Mr. Trump way back in 2016 invented the term affordability, amidst much derision as he successfully ran in his first term.

Now with a temporary gasoline spike from the Iran war, Democrats have latched on to the term affordability as some kind of midterm election life raft.

I don’t believe it’s going to work. Republicans are reminding voters that it was the big government socialist, President Biden, and all his Democratic followers who generated a 9 percent inflation peak, and 21 percent cumulative inflation over the four-year term.

just saw an ad down in florida a Republican running against a a Democrat incument for US House. Republican, "I'll work to lower prices"...ok sounds good, but the Republicans are in control of house and they have done little to lower prices, if the higher prices of today are any indication.

Not long after, ad ad from the sitting Democrat for that district..."I'll work to lower prices"....OK, but you've been in Congress for what, 10 years, and if high prices of today are any indication, you've not had much success.

In reality, one US representative will have little effect on lowering prices...

There needs to be a clear distinction between slowing inflation and "lowering prices".

Anyone, including Trump, who says they are going to "lower prices" almost certainly means to slow inflation. We haven't had deflation since maybe 2008-2009 if i recall correctly. Deflation is a very bad thing, worse than inflation.

Of course not. Government has little effect on anything. They are just trying to get elected. They will say whatever they want regardless of truth.
They promise lower inflation, lower prices and lower taxes on one hand. Then turn around and promise free healthcare, free childcare, free tuition, unlimited funding and record subsidies to literally anyone that can make it to the unemployment office on the other.

And he's right. Even you should be concerned with a nuclear armed Iran.

All Trump... All day... lol....
The vast majority of Americans have made it clear they disapprove of this war and care much more about "Affordability, a made up word."

You idiots suffered through 4 years of Bidenflation and all of a sudden get bent out of shape due to an oil shock. This is why you aren't credible. It's like you enjoy making a fool of yourself.

More people voted for someone other than Trump so no he did not get the majority of votes

And to be clear, when speaking about the war, you're calling 69% - 71% of the population foolish Screech. Think about that, you're in a rapidly dwindling pool of lowest common denominator taint-lickers (30%). How embarrassing!

AP–NORC (October 1, 2026): 28% to 31% of U.S. adults approve of President Donald Trump's handling of the war, while 69% say the war has not been worth fighting https://www.ap.org/news-highlights/...s-midterms-approach-a-new-ap-norc-poll-finds/

71% of U.S. adults disapprove of Trump's handling of the conflict with Iran, which is tied to broader public frustration over rising living costs and gas prices. [1, 2]

LOL... Trump won the popular vote.

Yes,~60% of the population is stupid. Why do you think democrats are in office in the first place? They are stupid. And Jonathon Gruber admitted such a long time ago.

Yes, 60% of the population is stupid and leans D.

Cot tam, what are you talking about?
Poor thing, I can assure you that the ~28% of the population that you represent is not considered by anyone, anywhere in the world, as the best of us. You make me laugh.

I won't disagree with your statement, because just about every poll shows that.

But not everyone who disapproves of the war does so for the same reason. There is a percentage, I don't know how large, that really agrees with trump that Iran should not be allowed to have a nuclear weapon. And they want that capability destroyed.

IMO, there is a percentage in that disapproval number who simply disagree with the way Trump has conducted it. And IMO it's trump, not the military, who are driving this train. We should have continued our kinetic campaign rather than falling for Iranian "rope a dope" strategy of promising a ceasefire and negotiations, only to renig when the kinetic campaign ended. And now sine March we're in this nether world of on and off bombings, both by the US and by Iran. Americans don't like this. Wer want a quick, overpowering battle and then move on to the next issue.

As I posted before, the result of trump's strategy has been higher fuel prices, leading to higher inflation, higher interest rates, lower stock prices an a democratic takeover of Congress (which should make you happy)

IMO, and I know some disagree, Trump not only screwed us, he screwed himself and his presidency. (assuming polls are even close to correct)

How Can Democrats Possibly Run On "Affordability"?

A very good point is made below......

https://www.manhattancontrarian.com/blog/2026-10-7-how-can-democrats-possibly-run-on-affordability

We are now less than a month out from the mid-term elections, and the single biggest theme that the Democrats have chosen to run on appears to be “affordability.”

How can this possibly be? We live in the age of immediate availability of information, let alone artificial intelligence to track down anything that might previously have been challenging to find. If you want a state-by-state comparison of costs for any particular thing, you can get it in a fraction of a second. The results are in: the Democrat-run states are less “affordable.”

The Democrats and Republicans propose opposite strategies for dealing with the economy. The Democrats advocate for higher government spending, higher taxes, and more regulation of business; and the Republicans advocate for lower spending, lower taxes, and less regulation of business. The states are the “laboratories of democracy,” where we get to see the consequences of disparate policies play out, and to evaluate the results. Neither party is perfect in implementing what it advocates, so there are always some complexities. But in the main it is easy to collect data that give a relatively clear picture of the results of Democrat versus Republican policies.
