That tweet sums up Greggy’s exit meeting a week from Sunday!
Keli has alluded to in at least 1 interview the portal haul was less than great. She’s not raising this money to give it to a meathead who doesn’t know what to do with it.

This speaks for itself. Regardless of what happens this year, it should be his last

Lowest Career Win-Loss Percentages (Established Active Power 4 Coaches)

Coach [1, 2, 3, 4]Current TeamCareer RecordWin-Loss %
Clark LeaVanderbilt26–37.413
Mike LocksleyMaryland37–49.430
Tony ElliottVirginia22–26.458
Greg SchianoRutgers99–108.478
Dave ArandaBaylor36–37.493

GREG 2.0 is .431
in 1978 we decided to go 1A rather than 1AA.. I asked grok to figure out our win percentasge since then without Schiano..

That’s 1978–2000 plus 2012–2019 — 31 seasons. Ties counted as a half-win.

What that window includes:
  • The tail of the Burns years (1978–83 still had several winning seasons and the first bowl)
  • The Anderson / Graber / Shea stretch (mostly losing)
  • Kyle Flood and Chris Ash (2012–19), which had two winning years and then a steep drop
What it leaves out:
  • The strong Bateman/Burns run of the 1960s–1976
  • All of Schiano (2001–11 and 2020–present)
So once you start the clock at the I-A decision and strip Schiano out, the program sits well under .500 — closer to .410 than the .488 figure from 1950 onward.

.410 vs Schiano's .478 in the Big East and now Big Ten.

It isn't trivial information that Greg did not post a .500+ record until after Louisville, Cincinnati, and USF replaced Miami, Virginia Tech, (and Temple) in the Big East. Louisville was 1-3 against ranked teams (beat Boise State in the Liberty Bowl) in their last two seasons in C-USA and Cincinnati was 1-2 (beating then #21 Southern Miss) against ranked teams over that time. Miami was 8-3 and VT was 4-3 against ranked teams over the same two seasons. Perhaps RU will win 8 or 9 games under Schiano if the SEC raids the top B1G teams! Come on SEC, I hear Indiana, Ohio State, Oregon want in!! :p

Accurate:

The thing is you can add another 5-6 games to this list. Has more wtf losses than any coach I’ve seen. Shane Beamer at UofSC gives him a run. But he at least can recruit and has multiple top 10 wins.

Sadly, in 2.0 era, Greg's only "signature B1G win" is beating an 8-5/5-4 Minnesota. Some will point to the Miami bowl game, but the standard should be wins in conference. One signature win in 55 B1G games. That speaks volumes.

Yep. True leaders leave something better than they found it. Schiano is on the verge of leaving it exactly how he found it. Ash level.
The thing is he basically burned the program to the ground on the way to Tampa. Took the entire staff with him sans flood. I knew the department was seriously dysfunctional when Greg came back as the OSU dc and they played a tribute video and urged the fans to give him a standing ovation.

Yep. He's always been about Greg Schiano. He loves Rutgers, because it has allowed him to put Greg Schiano first.

Well, there are new sheriffs in town. The worst thing that happened was hiring him. We could have gotten an equally as bad coach for less money and an extension that likely never would have happened. The second worst thing that happened besides the extension was Hobbs dipping his pen in the company ink and having to tuck tail, allowing Schiano unfettered, unchecked fiefdom building. It was bad for the university, the dept, and actually him as well.

A lot of blame to go around but that's the past. The only question is what is the best path forward from moving on from Schiano and how fast can you implement the strategy to do so.

Maybe not fair given the talent in the WR room, but Deondre Johnson is having quiet a career since leaving Rutgers.

Maybe he'd still be here if the fans ponied up. 😁 Of course, if he was here, he'd be tackling opposing CBs after interceptions. Violently, of course.

Jason Eck another assistant coach out of the MVFC, South Dakota St, in the FCS,.on to Idaho and New Mexico, combined 39-18. That conference knows good coaching thanks to North Dakota St, now in the Mountain West. That's why if Schiano were to lose to Maryland and hopefully fired, turn to Woodley, Drake, or Johansen, South Dakota.
