I'll keep saying it. If your ever confused about keeping a coach or not, just look at what other fanbases want/say. If they want you to keep your coach, get rid of him. If they pray that he leaves, lock him down. Both legacy hires, and records don’t lie. Both mid 60%’s overall. I hope they keep him as long as they want us to keep pope.

I'll just say to be careful what you wish for. Did we not just have a Hall of Fame coach on a "lifetime" contract that we were terribly lucky to get out of? Locking down a coach can be a detriment if said coach loses his fastball.I'll keep saying it. If your ever confused about keeping a coach or not, just look at what other fanbases want/say. We didn't lock down Pitino and it's kinda a nightmare to think about how much success we would have had. Uconn got to keep Hurley. Duke got to keep coach K. It's time we get an elite, HoF coach and lock him down.
So there is no need to play this game with Pope.

Well more than half the people on here want Nate Oats to be our coach and he is averaging 10.4 losses a year at Alabama. And for his 11 year career he is averaging 10.5 losses a year. And when Alabama first hired him he was averaging 10.75 losses a year. Can't believe Kentucky is being coached by a guy who averages 12 losses a year over an 11 year career.

Cal was not our only HOF coach we wanted gone. Last few years for Coach Rupp were not exactly a love fest."It's time we get an elite, HOF coach and lock him down."
We did exactly that with our last coach and people spent the last few years of his tenure here begging for him to be fired and bemoaning how stupid it was to sign him to the contract we did...
Don't get me wrong, it was past time for both parties to move on. (I mean, how could we still have faith in Cal after his last four seasons here?) Just found it a bit funny.
I'm trying to stay positive on Pope. Can you imagine how ******* awesome it would be to have two die hards like Pope and Stein as your coaches? Pope's got a lot of ground to make up and if he doesn't he should be gone. BUT I really do want him to succeed. I think it would be fun as hell if we had two total homers repping us and kicking ***.
Everything is sped up. It's too bad, but it is how it is.Pope will win big, either here or elsewhere. 99% of the fans on here have never even been on an actual team before but because grandpa watched the Cats, they are “fans” too.
Most passionate fanbase is debatable, probably is us but we also have the dumbest fanbase as well.
I shake my head daily and mumble, “Ain’t no way that they are humans this stupid” while reading this board.
"Dickalato"dickalato, we'll see. Pope HAS to be feeling the heat. We'll find out soon enough if he's ready to ditch the super-friendly role and become a teacher of the game, and whether Batt is willing to do the necessary should it come to that. Hopefully it's the former.
Serious question. When does this winning Big start? He has already coached 14 or 15 years and has never won big at all. He has a grand total of 3 NCAA tournament wins followed by absolute embarrassing losses in the sweet 16 and round of 32. It doesn’t appear we have a team capable of being any better this year than we were last year so more of the same. He is striking out on every 5 star level talent he has pursued. It’s obvious he is like a fish out of water here and this comes from someone who was happy with the hire and thought he would do very well. I vastly underestimated how much his goofy personality would affect his ability to recruit. Don’t mind admitting I was very wrong on pope but he has no business coaching here even this year much less beyond.Pope will win big, either here or elsewhere. 99% of the fans on here have never even been on an actual team before but because grandpa watched the Cats, they are “fans” too.

Coaching is not Louisville's problem. Lack of roster funding is the problem
Meanwhile Pope has Kentucky in conference standings we’ve never seen in our lives as fans of the program. First time playing on a Wednesday, now that’s impressive! Not even close because UL football isn’t UK basketball. Brohm is doing fine. UL is not a power in football. They’re a mid level power conference program and they are performing at or above that level.
Pope has gotten 3 years to prove himself. How is that not a fair shake? NC State got rid of coach one year removed from making a Final Four and Louisville got rid of Kenny Payne after 2 years. What else can you ask for?Pope will win big, either here or elsewhere. 99% of the fans on here have never even been on an actual team before but because grandpa watched the Cats, they are “fans” too.

He will not win big. To make that statement is not backed by any facts.Serious question. When does this winning Big start? He has already coached 14 or 15 years and has never won big at all. Just wait. He is going to win big lol. Forget his record, his goofball personality, and all the recruits that use him for more money.Meanwhile Pope has Kentucky in conference standings we’ve never seen in our lives as fans of the program. First time playing on a Wednesday, now that’s impressive!
But I thought the only variable was time? Not even close because UL football isn’t UK basketball. Brohm is doing fine. UL is not a power in football. They’re a mid level power conference program and they are performing at or above that level.
Pope is a career loser. Why exactly are you so sure he will win big here? I was told the KY name would recruit for him, it hasn't. I was told every shooter in the country would want to play in his system, they don't. If not for the zillion dollars we paid MM, he probably doesn't come here either.Pope will win big, either here or elsewhere. 99% of the fans on here have never even been on an actual team before but because grandpa watched the Cats, they are “fans” too.
