Look, I agree with the notion that if you root for a top program like OSU or Georgia, failure is anything but a chip.

But if you are an RU fan, we are entitled to whine, complain, and see failure all the time as we arguably have the worst P4 football and basketball success rate last 50 years.

we have earned the right to complain!

Winning used to be enough. Now college football fans spend every Saturday searching for the next coach, quarterback or team to blame."

🤔 Winning? This would be the case if it were the flood years (before the controversy) or even the wimsatt years but this year? They lost to UMass and have 1 win against a 1aa opponent..

I think in general RU fans, alums , etc have been among the most patient and rational of all college football fans. If people are questioning the insanity of big time sports, especially college football , maybe they should do a deep dive examination of the impact of our overall collective culture and what it prioritizes and rewards first.

The biggest problem for Rutgers is that there aren't enough people in New Jersey that give a crap about Rutgers football..
Especially amongst the students, educators, and administrators in this state.
Any steps taken by Rutgers to change that situation are usually laughable...if any are even taken.
Nobody ever died for dear old Rutgers.

Well that could be a chicken/egg type thing. If the team won consistently at the B1G level there would be a lot of interest in NJ. There is much more interest today on campus then when I was on campus that’s for sure. Many would not know that there was a home football game on a Saturday back in the ‘70s.

This is true…consistency.

Showing you can swim instead of just treading water or even drowning, people are going to notice.

Did you attend the Indiana game? The student section was packed. There is not a lack of student interest. Finally, RU has a President and AD that want to win, and a governor that attends games. I have never seen a RU AD, and a NJ governor together as much as these 2. (this is not a political post, so leave your feelings for the governor out of responses). RU AD and President are building a relationship with the governor which can only help with RU funding and large scale projects.
What is missing is a football team that can win 6, 7, or 8 games a year. This is not a fan base asking for a national championship or playoff run. Just a winning season. Win games and the bandwagon fans show up.
Last time Indiana was at RU they had no fans attend. Now they have fans everywhere.

Agree with everything you posted above. But what’s funny is the people being labeled “negatoids” are the least negative and not whining. They are offering solutions. And positive that we can win. The negativity is coming from the other side. That wants to keep status quo. Making excuses why it can’t be done. Because they are scared of hurting someone’s feelings. Afterall he’s a good guy.

But it has to be the bolded number for this to happen. Or begin to happen.

Been there, done that with the other two figures…those don’t move the proverbial needle, nor should they.

Our problem is we aren't content after big signature wins?
Shown me one post or thread of people upset after a big signature win.
I'll wait.

All repeat it again - why are the biggest "supporters" of Schiano always the most negative about Rutgers Football?
"Stop complaining about a 1-4 season. This team is terrible and has no hope for the future. What do you expect?"

With supporters like that - Schiano doesn't need an "negatoids".

Yes and to get that you need a winning conference record ..it’s a realistic goal that should be seen from time to time and in the B10 can even lead to a ranking.

Unlike the BE, in the B10 there will always be opportunities for ranked vs ranked games which generates buzz…like recently downtrodden UCLA going to Oregon this week. If they happen to pull off that upset the buzz will grow even bigger for them.

No one on this board is expecting to compete every year with OSU, Oregon, whoever. What we want is to not get blown out on the reg, beat teams above our weight class once in a while, and routinely beat those in our weight class where we invest similar amounts of money. That's the Iowa's, Wisconsins, NW, etc.

People aren't asking for the world. They just want the Schiano embarrassment to end.

For those that have seen my posts, this is something I’ve been saying for a long time.

And yes, it is a realistic endeavor.

I agree with osu and oregon but see no reason why we can't be in the 'ahead of wisconsin, ill, mich st, nebraska' annually type place. We're in a great location, recruiting bastion, and much more (granted the school really needs to market things better) but we should be more and we should expect more

All we are asking for is for 6-6 and close, exciting games against Big Ten opponents and maybe an upset or two, or 7-5 and lose by less than 10 to OSU, or 8-4, etc.

Stop whining?! We’re really not asking for much.

His career record is 100-112(43-90 0.301)
Career 30% win percentage in conference and it's gotten worse in the B1G.

Big East 28-49 0.364(Best yr 5-2)
(Minus 1st2yrs, E.Legrand yr) 27-29 0.482
2006 with a good coach, RU finishes 12-1 or 13-0

B1G 15-41 0.268(best year 4-5) 7th yr
Locksley 17-50 0.254(2x 4-5) 9th yr

what is 7 more games going to do but result in a 2-5, ceiling 3-4, does nothing for this team going forward to finish ceiling 4-8. It's not being negative, its being realistic and dealing with facts. Maryland and Rutgers are two of the worst teams in this conference in the 20s.

Ok, so maybe it’s a down year. We’ve had a lot of fun. Lots of games have been close. We’ve had lots and lots to cheer for!
100 wins!
Schiano is truly our guy! Our guy!!!
I say we dance with who brought us!

It's simple
If a program stinks, expect complaints .
The" sweet smell of success" brings on positive reviews .
The "stench of losing" creates a negative atmosphere

I think this article only applies when you normally win more than you lose or win at a very high rate. It doesn't seem to apply to those who lose more than you win on a regular basis.
What's scariest about this is:
the two with a worst all time record seem to have a better future ahead of them then Rutgers does and soon Rutgers will be #1
