How did the Tour get so many Top 100 guys to commit to the Baycurrent Classic this weekend in Japan?

The players are competitive junkies who want to play, especially against a stout field but my guess would be the all-important points as we move towards the '27 season.

Don't know how much golf I'll watch this week but I will keep an eye on Taylor Dickson at the KFT Championship. Dickson is currently 15th in the point standings. The top 20 will earn their tour card.

Gerard, “where we playin’ next week?” Guy will lace them up anywhere.

I don't really think that's it. It's a one-off event in Japan. Last event was in Utah. Next event is in Bermuda. Most of those guys skipped Asheville and Utah, which would be a lot cheaper travel costs if they were just in pursuit of points. The purse is $2M more ($8M vs. $6M), but that doesn't seem like enough incentive to fly 15 hours just to potentially miss the cut.

ETA: ChatGPT gave me the answer. It's the only Invitational in the fall, so it's only 72 players for an $8M purse and no cut. Makes sense.

He didn't lace them up in Asheville or Utah.
