No the administration and BOT’s mishandling of the Sandusky situation both on the front end by giving him access to PSU facilities and the right to bring TSM kids on campus and on the back end by voluntarily accepting draconian sanctions which the NCAA had no authority to impose (admitted by Emmert when he announced them and later established in court).
...And keeping Paterno on a decade too long. This is why you don't have 80 year head coaches (or elected officials for that matter). I'd say the same if Cael Sanderson wanted to coach past the time when he could roll around on the mat.
One could argue that there is nothing that gives this football program an identity and separates it from others since Joe has been gone. The one thing that defined this program and drew players and fans towards it is no longer here, and the program is suffering because of it.

The Autoport closed down, Rt. 322 was widened and the trip through The Narrows lost its charm, mid-rise buildings sprouted up in town, and decades have past since we enjoyed the youthful energy and excitement of life on fall afternoons. And probubly some other stuff as well.........
I'll bet at night, the concrete that replaced the Autoport still glows under a black light.

While notable public figures, including the head of the lettermen association and former federal investigators (i.e. John Snedden), accept the truth about Penn state and Pennsylvania politics, the fanbase generally prefers to deny the obvious, and deny the rampant problems of the Sandusky prosecutions, because it's hard to accept that criminal justice can be extremely unjust - additionally, a vocal minority of Penn State "fans" actually hated Paterno despite his immense success and impact on college football. They are poisonous and incorrigble.
History will eventually even more thoroughly vindictate some or all of the above.

Penn state football is also cursed because our athletic department refuses to claim national championships in 1969 and 1994. Not claiming 94 is so cuckish.
