I guess we are all a little skiddish about posting about this matchup?

We both know who and what we are facing....

Ill just say this, we contain the Lincolnton QB like we did in playoffs we win, we dont contain him, we lose.. its pretty much that simple in my eyes

Should be a great one...Both fine ball clubs

Have fun talking about this one

This one could very well be a shootout.... I'm leaning Shelby but wouldn't at all be surprised if Lincolnton wins..... As for Burns we need Lincolnton to win...

I'll definitely be at this game and would love to meet someone of you Lincolnton and Shelby folks

both teams need to play a clean game. No ejections. Because they both play big games coming up to end the regular season. I don’t think either team likes each other and not going to pretend they like each other.

however, I do think the coaching staff’s are cordial with each other.

The fans/ players…. I can’t say the same… lol

Let’s Goooo Wolves. Round 1

Top 2 3A schools in the State. Game of the year in 3A football. I’m calling it round 1.

I feel like we will see this game played again late November/ early December.

both teams have speed/ size/ depth and great coaches

most importantly both teams have really good players.

I know a lot of people/ programs don’t care about JV football

According the standings it looks like Thursday Night is going to decide the conference on JV between these 2 schools.

Lincolnton has had some really bad JV teams the past 10 yrs or so. It’s good to see them winning on both levels.

The Shelby defensive line is unlike anything we’ve seen or will see again unless we meet twice. I wouldn’t want them coming after me all night. The Wolves will have to have a great game plan and execute it to perfection to win. It’ll also be tough to contain the sophomore RB. Our pass defense has been solid but the run defense got exposed by Burns. Unfortunately playing Highland and Bessemer City is not a good warmup for Shelby. I think we can win, but I also know it can turn into a repeat of the playoff game if we get behind and hang our heads.

If this sounds odd then odd I am: last season in the first game, Lincolnton put absolutely everything they had into that particular game. It had to be done for us to defeat a team that was clearly better than us, and then we only won by a point, in overtime!
I’ll always be grateful for the effort our guys put into that memorable game.

This time, I’m hoping our guys will go over to Shelby, and simply give a solid commendable effort. Hopefully we win, but if not, we come back and get ready for another opponent that will be as tough or nearly as tough, namely Cramer.

This is my opinion only, I believe Lincolnton’s preparation for that first game (last season) was nothing short of extreme and must have required great effort from players and staff, both.

After that game we lost decisively to Cramer
(if this sounds like an excuse, it isn’t meant to they just beat us).
The next two really good teams we faced were Hendersonville then Mountain Heritage winning each game by only a point.

When we got back around to Shelby, I feel like with our team knowing how hard it was to prepare for them and beat them in the first game, the thought of such preparation along with how tough their last 3 out of 5 games were was just too much; And I mention again, Shelby was better than us and completely focused on winning when they came back here for their second game (Semi-finals), no matter how prepared we were.

This season, and looking at the long haul, just have it in my head we might do better if we make a good effort to win and get ready for what’s to come. It’s great to have home playoff games but the wolves fare pretty good on the road. As far as byes, I worry about those, too. Nevertheless, got a lot of faith in our staff. They surely know better than me. I’ll be picking the Wolves by 7.

Side note: My friend Cheerduck (Hickory fan) once said to me “Not everything you say makes good sense,” and being the good man he is he said it to my face (wouldn’t have minded if he said it on here). I didn’t say anything, but thought to myself “Dear friend, if everything I say starts making sense, you might need to consult your family doctor.” Oh, I forgot, they aren’t doctors anymore, but Primary Care Provider GMAB.

I agree. The ones over on the other thread taking West Iredell by 21 are delusional (at least in my opinion). But I am happy for the WI people for the great year they’re having. They will be a very tough out in 4A.
Yeah, me too. LTown. Especially for the poster Gray,Green and Gold. Glad you went over to see them. If Hickory can keep it close I wonder if depth might play into it later.
