...for my 40th reunion and boy that place has changed!
The tour was lead by an assistant principal who looked old enough to be a student. Her wingman was Phil Ralston and I spent a small chunk of the tour chatting him up about all the stuff that's changed in the area. He was quite effusive about the Martinelli boys being a joy to coach and work with, and a firm believer in their abilities and futures. Turns out this guy has been coaching high school kids for about 25 years and is an inductee of the Illinois Basketball Hall of Fame - a thing which I admit I didn't know existed. He's also really proud of the school and knows its history quite well considering he's only been coaching there for maybe a decade or so.
There was quite a gap between Jeff Ryan and Nick. Seeing the quality of the facilities and meeting the coach gives me higher expectations for the future of GBS athletics.
