Updated Favorites, Sleepers, Pretenders & Dark Horses

Now that we’re deeper into the season, how has everyone’s outlook changed? Who looks like the team to beat, and who is quietly putting together a season that deserves more attention?

Are there teams whose record or ranking looks better than what they’ve shown on the field? On the flip side, who could surprise people and make a serious playoff run?

Let’s hear your updated favorites, sleepers, pretenders, and dark horses. Who are you buying stock in, who are you selling, and what’s changed your mind?

Lakeview, if you take out the O’Neill game…lots of credit to O’Neill there, is about 10-15 total plays away from being 5-1.

C2 seems to be really really good this year at the top, feels like GICC’s to lose but there is a lot of really good football from about 10 or 11 teams this year.

Can’t wait for the East Butler-Shelby/RC-Aquinas triangular these next few weeks.

I think D1 is loaded, Realistically I do think Sandy is top but there are some dangerous teams, Ravenna, Stanton, JB, Hart. NC, Crofton. Playoff seeding is going to be wild. Could end up getting a Crofton/Sandy Semi Final

Lots of good things in 11 man.

Class A looks like Westside should be the favorite but Millard South and Millard North are both very good. Omaha North is also really good and gets forgotten about it seems. Bennington stepping up from Class B and being undefeated is a really good story too.

Class B has Gretna as the favorite but Gretna East, Skutt, and Waverly all right there. Scottsbluff and Aurora also putting up undefeated seasons. NW under a new coach has bounced back from a tough opener and now has a chance to get to 7-2 if they can upset Scottsbluff in last game of the year which would be a nice year under the radar

AG looks like the class of C1 but with their qb out for the year with a very unfortunate injury, Boys Town could be a sleeper who surprises.

C2 has GICC, Hartington CC, Yutan, Bergan, Ord and Boone Central all undefeated. Malcolm and Gothenburg only with one loss. Seems pretty wide open and whoever is playing the best and healthiest at the end will have a good shot.

D-1 - Can't count Sandy Creek out, they seem to be rolling now. This is probably the deepest 8 man class. Johnson-Brock, Ravenna, Stanton, Hartington/Newcastle on being contenders. We will find out in a couple weeks on Ravenna when they play Sandy Creek.

D-2 - Seems to be Shelby-RC and North Platte St Pats at the top and the rest trailing. Shelby-RC vs East Butler Friday will tell us if East Butler is for real.

D-3- Central Valley and Lawrence-Nelson towards the top. Doesn't look like L-N has played much for competition yet or they are really good. Twin Loup vs Burwell should be a good one on Friday. AA will be a tough out come playoff time.

D-6 - Arthur County and Stuart towards the top. Riverside gave Stuart a game this last week. They should make a little noise in the playoffs.
