His defense allowed 40+ points today. In three SEC games they’ve allowed about 35 points per game. Stein and Minchey will get their share against Florida too. Maybe Mark Stoops was helping a lot with the defense.

We do but at least it's not the bend but don't break defense of Brad White. Bateman isn't scared to dial up a blitz.
It's great to not be afraid to call a blitz, but you really need at least a couple to get to the QB or at least pressure him.

Our D line was getting blown up almost every play and over-committing or losing contain constantly. We were zero threat in the front seven, and it was allowing Sellers to pick apart our secondary.

This defense bends and breaks.

I am not out on Bateman yet. We were getting good pressure and should have had multiple big time losses via sacks, but our guys couldn't wrap up.
Oh I’m not out on Bateman either. I think like White, he’s an ok coach but Bateman can actually recruit. Thats half the battle. White couldn’t recruit to save his life.

It's still a better scheme than what Brad White used. When we get better depth I expect it to improve. We're really thin at LB & I'd love to have DL depth.

The great thing about our defense is, most things are just fundamental and can be fixed. We definitely got to bring guys down without missing tackles. I would love to get some pressure on the Qb as well, depth is really showing now and getting some guys healthy should help some. I really got my yearly cussing quota maxed out in the first half no doubt. 😆 Great win but you’re right, the defense has to improve to keep these next few games close. I’m still so pumped up and proud of them.

This is the least amount talent Stein and co. Will have. Works, Gadson, and others have made big jumps since last season. Also alot of talented underclassmen on that defense.

Florida was exposed as I predicted...

Florida was fortunate to play almost every tough game so far at home. They have a huge home field advantage. This is the beginning of the end for their reign as a contender.

White isnt their problem. He did a fantastic job here even being massively undermanned. More specifically, he did much better with less vs much more talented mizzou teams.

Florida will be fine, they just aren't the elite team all those home games made them appear to be.

The story is winning on the road in the SEC. Missouri was a big winner yesterday. Its loss was at Miss St.

Winning at SC and TAMU was huge for UK, obviously. While it will be the second biggest challenge of the season, winning at home now against LSU would be huge. LSU’s worst game was on the road vs Ole Miss. Ole Miss then proceeded to see the difficulty of the road. Let’s hope Kroger is bonkers next week.

I would imagine Kroger will be crazier than ever. New coach 4-1. More than when we were like 6-0 facing Georgia for the east. I hope so anyway.

Brad white is only good if you play run the clock out on offense (ala Stoops at Kentucky) then it's still pretty questionable at best.
Brad white will NEVER defend anyone straight up and hold them to decent yardage. (At least without major talent advantages)
Busters offense is the exact thing that hinders a BW defense. The defense needs the offense to milk clock and let the D sit out most of the game and require the offense to get antsy because time is dwindling. Busters offense doesn't complement what Brad tries to do.

Brad White gets a lot of good grace from the outside for his time here. But in reality the White defense didn't have great per possession defensive numbers really at all, especially against the non scrub teams

just helped by the opposing offense getting the ball less because we opened the game trying to run the clock out. Less possessions= less damage that you can do. But straight up that D is garbage. You can't let buster go obviously so BW is the weak point.

Brad White lol. He would've been Brainfart's pick to replace Stoops if his tenure didn't end so badly. Mitch knows how to pick 'em.

We all knew that he wouldn’t work there. Our defense was so soft here. We would have decent games here and there but overall that soft zone gave up so many yards every game. We never could stop a team when we needed too.

To save his own *** and take some heat off, yes. This is big time sports. Real coaches won’t save their friends if it costs them wins and recruits.
He might down the road but it won’t be after 1 year. He’s a defensive guy so I would assume he will get more involved before firing him.

Lot of cats round here chest pounding were pretty big B dub fans not too long ago. Big JS fans too.

Large contingent would’ve loved another double shot of defensive fanaticism running the show.

Hell could’ve been JS and B dub here!

Bunch of knuckle heads wanted BW over LC when Stoops flirted with AnM and wanted JS over any offensive guy.

I know D is great to have. WS will say it. He said after the game they couldn’t stop anything SC was doing…but guess what? He scored 1 more point! That my friends will always be the best defense! Score more!

CMS, BW, JS, cousin Eddie…would’ve all huddled, called a run play or probably just kicked an extra point and tried to win with a bend but don’t break defensive plan in the next OT!
