It was like that immediately and the board doubled down as soon as they could. Befuddling. I don’t buy the Bs that we can’t get xyz coach to come here. People keep going to places that eat you alive and have half the support SC provides. That should continue to be one of most important parts to a HC and staff….esp. if you aren’t at a top 10 perennial program.
we just continue to sign the wrong guy and pretend /sell that we got “the guy”.

Nature of the business unfortunately. One "good season" is all it takes for a coach's agent to start negotiations with the athletic department for a contract extension and more money.

Whatever the buyout is should be considered Carolina’s penalty for hiring him in the first place. Fire Beamer and pay the money, learn from the mistake and move on.

Nobody is coming after Beamer. I would give him a year-to-year contract. He’s not going anywhere.

Administration doesnt know how to say no. They don’t know how to hire and neg a contract that protects the school.

Gamecock football is filled with lots of - we suck no matter what. It is also ripe with idiotic choices that create suckage. Many however think it’s just the former.

Because our previous AD and fan base wanted to show that we a) had money and b) were keeping Beamer a long time in the hopes that it would reflect in recruiting and bringing top talent in. Meanwhile, we lost out this past season on several high profile recruits reportedly due to concerns about Shane Beamer's future at South Carolina.

Having money and blowing it on stupid things just to show you have money is how you end up not having money.
