Is it just me, but are ticket sales lagging?

Wow! Just WOW!

That just was nuked.

I knew those USC prices were bound to come down - but over 12 hours the bottom completely dropped out. And with thousands and thousands on the market, it ain't done dropping.

Never saw a drop that sharp, that quick.

The folks who have been, and are now, taking a bath of epic proportions - they are not going to be happy.
Caveat Emptor and all that jazz aside, a razing like this is going to generate some bad blood.

Down to $87
Most of the tickets for USC have been sold, I would say well over 90% - maybe 95% or more (obviously, a TON of folks are now looking to dump them, of course, which isn't a great look).
And a lot of the announced attendance for next week will go to the game "dressed" as empty aluminum seats, rather than wearing white - which is kind of emberrassing for PSU.

The remainder of the schedule? Much like the first month of the season, **** loads of unsold seats - and even larger loads of empty seats at the games, obviously. That hurts PSU's wallet. Certainly.

But the real nightmare scenario is what is happening for next year - with the grand unveiling of Patty Kraft's Grand Cathedral of Football and Such (thanks Bob).

All those "premium experiences", that even if completely sold out leave PSU well short of fiscal soundness - that remain unsubscribed. Is there now going to be a rush over the next six months of folks jacking open their wallets to pay those crazy prices?
Even taking a fairly cautious stance, I would have wagered that during this first go round with the bright shiny and new stadium there would be enough demand to sell them out - for the FISRT round of premium seat contracts.
It doesn't look like even that is going to happen. That is a long-term nightmare for anyone concerned w PSU ICAs fiscal future (let alone the crap fests being played out on PSU ICA fields and courts)

Of course, PK will still get his huge bonus next year. It is the Penn State Culture. under this current leadership. The way to - in their minds - maintain the facade that they are wonderful, PROVEN by the fact that they "spend the most".

The McKinsey folks will have a field day with PSU ICA. They are going to see ENRON all over again - maybe they will even install a McKinsey partner as the new PSU AD (like they did w ENRON). Though I doubt PSU Admin will ever allow those things to become public.

It is what it is.

I was never a big fan of having a single game turn into an all day event. I have attended a few games, about 20+ years ago. I have zero interest in ever going again. Traffic, cost, noise, drunk idiots, weather all factor in. Mostly though, I just dont care enough anymore. The last few years has really dampened my love of college football, not just PSU football.

I'm on an email chain where someone was offering up their room at The Graduate Hotel for the USC weekend......$1600 per night for a double queen.

So would you say it is a good sign that “most” tickets for the white out are sold, and it’s a 90% sell out? Only 5 to 10 thousand weren’t ever purchased. That is ok for the whiteout?!?

I personally think this is the bigger problem than even The ridiculous parking rates. Any game that’s not at 12 or 330 will require someone staying the night and maybe even the 12 o’clock ones require that depending on where you were coming from.
The gouging of alumni by the hotel industry in town is unbelievable

They've been pulling that for decades. Try to get a one night room for Octoberfest. Gouge city.

The gouging for a place to sleep goes way beyond the hotel industry. I think they are just following the lead of PSU, which charges at least $1000 per month per student for a crappy dorm room.

The update on ticket prices, after the demolition in Evanston:

Not many unsold tickets left in the top few rows of the new upper west side. Those have been discounted heavily, in some cases more than 50 percent.

The upper north deck seats have been marked down as well, just not as heavily. Now, just above $200. Lowest get in price is now $88 at last glance.
