Hot Take - 14 Team wasn’t really that good. They got beat by an Ole Miss team that lost to UPig 30-0 and TCU 42-3 Before and after the Egg Bowl. Then tell me how good that 14 team would've been?
Here's the truth. Offense wasn't really the problem yesterday, unless you count the turnovers as offense (and that's fair to do). But most of that was squarely on Taylor. In general we still moved the ball, and I don't know that Fluff would have helped too much....I don't think anyone was going to run on that front. That's what a pass game gives you. Maybe Alabama's D softens in the second half vs. the run, because the pass had opened it up, but that was impossible for us to do because we were playing from behind. Then tell me how good that 14 team would've been?

LSU, A&M and Auburn were way overrated when we played them. I think Auburn finished 8-5 that year.

But he was also good in 2015, when he wasn't running nearly as much.
Mullen dropping the ball and not capitalizing on recruiting after 2014 was a killer. This is a good point. He was actually better in 2015 with somewhat less talent around him than in 2014 IMO (and Dan’s IIRC).
But shatting on either of those teams is kinda ridiculous. They’re still almost certainly among the best 10 football teams MSU has ever fielded. Top 15ish nationally no matter where the 2015 team finished in voting polls.
